However, this is the first reference I have seen in an eon that Boki actually belongs reference in a basketball forum at all!) NACHBAR'S SPUNK IMPRESSES NETS By FRED KERBER October 24, 2006 -- Bostjan Nachbar arrived in New Jersey last year at the trading deadline and promptly became as much a part of the Nets as a chipped hockey puck. The team had its rotation, had its goals and Nachbar had a seat at the end of the bench. So when Nachbar showed his talent and skills for Slovenia in the summer World Championships, friends and teammates asked a simple, logical question: Do you want to go back to play for the Nets again? "Yes," said Nachbar, leading to simple, logical question No. 2: Are you nuts? "My answer surprised everybody. They were all saying, 'Why?' I said because I have a chance to play with the best players in the world," Nachbar recalled. "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to play with players like Jason Kidd, Vince Cater, Richard Jefferson. I know we can go deep in the playoffs, and I don't want to miss the opportunity to play with a team like that." And Nachbar may actually play. He has shown coach Lawrence Frank versatility in a game that everyone knew contained shooting skill. With the Nets gearing for an up-tempo game - a style in which Nachbar always has flourished - small lineups will be a matter of course. Nachbar, a 6-9 small forward by trade, could plug in at power forward. "It's very encouraging what we've seen. He's got a good way about him, good confidence," said Frank. "He can stretch the defense. He shoots the ball well and, for a guy who's 6-9, he puts the ball on the floor. He's not afraid to attack the rim. He's got good passing skills. With the style we have, it really fits his game." Then Frank paid Nachbar the ultimate compliment: "He's just a good basketball player." Nachbar is content with lesser minutes for a chance to win, rather than heavier minutes with a loser. Been there, done that with the Hornets. "I want to win something. I just don't want to be a player in the NBA that played for six, eight, 10 years and didn't achieve anything," Nachbar said And so he's getting comfortable and impressing coaches and mates. "I definitely like his game," said Cliff Robinson. "You have to be here to work your way through the offense we run. When I got traded here from Golden State, it was so hard to learn on the fly. You don't have practice time. Him being here at the year's beginning has him playing with a lot of confidence." fred.kerber@nypost.com
how is it not? if we can talk about ex rocket tracy murray, im pretty sure we can talk about boki. get off ur high horse
Bit too early for that. The local press is always putting out some feel good stories about their players to generate interest leading up to the regular season.
My interpretation of the Tracy Murray rule is that if a player is retired and he used to play for the Rockets, then it can go in GARM. If he's playing for another NBA team, then it goes in NBA dish.
DaDakota, what's caught in your throat, is it Boki "spunk"? I wouldn't call this ....mcuh to get excited about. The only reason he hasn't wasn't cut in the offeseason is because NO signed him to a 3 year deal before realizing that he sucked and shipped him off to NJ - where he has done zero., so I'm not ready to bow down before the garbage time king jsut yet.
uhhh...it's a fluff peice by the local paper basically saying nachbar might get a chance to play this year. let's not start sucking each other's d*cks just yet...
Looks to me this guy doesn't know what he was talking about. IIRC, Boki sucked badly during the summer WC and he didn't even make the starting lineup in the game against China, which Slovenia lost. Another example of a NewYorker talking out of his ass.
