Take it with a grain of salt since it's from Vescey.. but funny nonetheless to watch all this happen to another team for a change. (edit: meaning personell issues)

It's not hard to believe, not at all.

The little general doesn't really like softies, and those who know him know that he was less than thrilled at Dirk's utter inability to grow a pair and exert himself during last year's playoffs. It wasn't the first time -- Dirk's inability to grow a pair against Udonis Haslem in the 2006 finals was as much a reason why they lost that series as Wade's heroics.

It's probably the same reason why he consented to trading Harris -- Harris is a statistically more productive player than Jason Kidd is, but my guess is he got tired of Harris' flopping antics and inability to actually be a leader on the floor.

    Mavs about to implode?

Dirk was on the news up here talkin' about how he thinks their window is closing, that the window is "this year."

    I love it.

Ch. 8 WFAA's Dale Hansen says he basically believes the report, claiming "because we all know Cuban always tells the truth."

I believe it - because I think that Avery and Dirk are not really on the same page. I read an interview with Dirk's personal coach Holger Gschwindner on a German sports website, where Dirk's personal coach criticized Avery quite harshly.

Mmh...that just gave me a nice idea...

    Successful Trade Scenario
    Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Houston and Dallas being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Dallas had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Tmac's never taken his team past the first round. I know Dirk is no robert horry, but I remember couple years ago he put the beat down on KG and the wolves.

I can definitely see this rumor having some teeth. Avery is old school, tough as nails do what it takes to win. We know Dirk is not. He's no slouch of a player, of course, but I just don't see him clicking with what Avery wants. Honestly, Jerry Stackhouse is the only guy on that team that I see Avery truly respecting as a player. Maybe Josh Howard as well.

The other issue with Dirk is the ghosts of these failures. It's like a great fighter getting knocked out for the first time and by a opponent he didn't respect except it happened to Dirk twice. First Miami in the Finals and then Golden State. I don't think he can recover from that mentally to get that team a Championship. Dallas should have unloaded Dirk for 2-3 good or very players and modeled the team after Detroit. A team that doesn't really have a superstar at any position but it has very good players at every position who all like to take (and make) big shots in big games.

wouldn't surprise me.........I still think the only way dallas ULTIMATELY succeeds is if they get rid of Dirk.....I think of him just like I think of Tmac....extremely talented, but both are soft players that are afraid to take it to the basket....

lol, this article seems to have some substance to it: don't you guys remember what our German-Killer Ryan Bowen did to Nowitzki when we played them on the Sura/Barry/James team? It was awesome watching how frustrated he got from how physical and tenacious Bowen was!

We might need somebody to back Dirk up. Let's see if we can get Karl Malone to come out of retirement, while we're at it.

what i love to hear is there are coaches like AJ and pop that are in our situation (ie. our division) and only accept one thing - winning, no excuses

they are willing to do whatever it takes, and don't care who they piss off

now granted, if the mavs had a real C to plug up the middle they coulda won at least one champ... the spurs coach never stopped pushing his players

i watched that one spurs game, where pop called a time out just to yell at barry, and now look - he's out the door.

THAT'S HOW U DO IT. trade the players that won't cut it and play hard every night

as nice as it sounds, no one cares about the future, 2 seasons from now, when you're 9th place and fans are hungry for playoff success

I can't believe anyone is even giving credence to the tabloid writer vecsey and this article.

Give Avery some credit here, whatever he feels about dirk, i know avery ain't that stupid that he would take this issue w/ cuban and try to get dirk traded.
Listen, Dirk can pull a t-mac and lose in the 1st rd for the next 5 seasons and i bet you cubes will not trade dirk. His relationship with dirk is completely different and just on a different level than what he had w/ fin or nash. Plus Cuban and Nash's agent hate each other.

No one in dallas that actually follows basketball is even paying attention to that trash of an article or its writer.

oh its funny u mention Karl Malone...

players like KM got better every year, as a rookie he couldn't shoot nor make a free throw at all

do u ever remember karl missing much come the vet years? Even at the end, he was just a beast especially when you add in his mind control over the refs, no one can beat a 8man team (5+3, for you slow witted :p)

Yao has done a great job making sure he pushes every year, the reason tmac bothers me is, i never see any real improvement from the offseasons..
