Would've loved for Camby to stay, he would be perfect to mentor Asik and a reliable back up unlike D-Mo / Jones or however will play the 5 when O is out. That being said, he looked like he gained weight in the media day photos and we got a 2nd round pick & Douglas for him. It was a smart move by the Rockets though this injury is probably nothing serious.

Seconded. I bet he'll rock NYC if he plays like he did for us, I wish him health.

They are dumbasses. The Knicks have been among the worst managed teams for quite a while.

I like Camby -- good for him -- but Dolan is an idiot signing all these old guys on 3-year contracts. Jason Kidd for 3 years? He will be 40 this year!

They had to give them those years otherwise they would of signed with Maimi or other contenders.

Well maybe they would of signed with the other contenders but its not like the Knicks are contenders anyway. Its funny how some of the Knicks fans believes that the Knicks are legitimate contenders with Carmelo Anthony and Amare. IMO, with that starting lineup that they with Felton, Brewer, Melo, Amare and Tyson, they would be in the 5-7 spot. That starting lineup looks better on paper than it is on the court.

Classic NY media overreaction, but I have to say that the contract he recieved is pretty stunning given what his role will be on the Knicks. Are they really going to be relying on him to do that much the next two seasons?

I think you are going to see Woodson having the most success with Amare at the 5 and Melo at the 4 to create spacing in their offense. Sort of the 4 out/ 1 in type of offense that Orlando ran with Dwight, and Houston originally started with Hakeem.

Thats the only way i really see Melo and Amare coexisting on the court together. You really dont even need a backup center but for maybe 10 minutes a game if even that, but whatever Dolan.

This really screws them up now. It was too crowded down low with Melo (who's more of a stretch 4 than a 3) Amare and Chandler. Now you bring in Camby to play backup to Chandler, meaning Amare will almost always be on the court with a big man getting in his way. They should have kept Billups and went for Nash or Paul and played small, fastbreak ball.

This is the luxury of depth. They still have Kurt Thomas who is damn good at defense and paint protection. Not as good as he used to be, but he is still an awesome backup for a backup.
