Morey has a chance to land KG or Pierce now. It's 5 years, too late for those guys though.

    I wonder what a

    Kyle Lowry
    Kevin Martin
    Paul Pierce
    Luis Scola
    Samuel Dalembert

    starting lineup would look like.

Pierce is the only guy out of that trifecta that I would seriously consider...

So, what are Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen worth in trade?

I think Pierce is the one that's not going to move. Could be wrong, but I'd be very surprised.

I'd consider Allen for the right price.

The nice thing about Ray and KG is that they are expiring, and could probably be had for fairly cheap after this year.

Would you give up Kevin Martin, Luis Scola and fillers for Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen?

That would free up a ridiculous amount of cap, and we would probably get better defense and production...

Paul Pierce has been with that team since he sank to #10 in the draft, and it would be a shame for that team to trade him, but of all the players from that team not named Rajon Rondo that we could use for the last two seasons of his contract....

Or facilitate a trade that gets us what we need (3-team trade).

Plus, Boston should include the 2012 draft pick they are owed by the Clippers :p.

No, because I don't think we are going to sway a superstar here with cap space alone. If one does come to Houston in free agency it will be for one of two reasons:

    1) We traded for another superstar in their prime, not an over the hill one like Allen/Garnett, making a guy joining us in FA part of a new duo

    2) We stand pa,t make a little noise in the playoffs, and are viewed as a destination with a fantastic supporting cast.

I don't buy that we can do what Miami did. There are more attractive/glamorous cities to sign in.

Do you really think we could get Garnett for Martin and Scola and Ray for essentially expiring contracts?

Garnett and Allen are basically not a whole lot more than expiring contracts at this point. Martin and, to a slightly lesser extent, Scola are in their prime.

Why are so many clutchfans always so eager to scavenge the scraps of a sad corpse that clearly died of disease or old age and is therefore unfit to eat?

I can't see the Celtics getting much better offers than that one...

    Rajon Rondo
    Kevin Martin
    Paul Pierce
    Luis Scola

Would buy them some time to find an adequate center...

Do you really think Boston wants to tie up payroll in Luis and Kevin?

I don't know. Depends on whether they want to follow the Les strategy or the Clippers strategy.

this makes it sound like now they are available, but there was another quote a few days ago about this, where Ainge basically said they would trade them if it gave them talent. Like a gasol for scola and Martin type of a deal. He was just saying they'd be stupid not to since their window is practically closed and acquiring talent for them fast forwards the rebuilding process...

i think he mentioned a herb williams and chuck person trade the celtics turned down for Bird and he said he would have done it at that stage of Bird's career. Early 90s.

At this point, i dont see why we'd give up actual talent for those guys.

If so, then Morey may be highly interested in that deal if nothing materializes for Dwight and Deron. With all those guys free agents, if Garnett were willing to re-sign for a couple years at $10 mil per, then that might be a big enticement for Dwight and Deron to sign here outright.

I really don't see that being what Ainge is going after. I can see a deal wrapped around Pierce and Rondo, the two players with real trade value. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ainge make a play for Dwight using Pierce and Rondo as the bait. Something like Pierce and Rondo and an expiring for Dwight, Hedo, and Jameer. An all out assault on drawing Dwight and Deron to Boston long term. Deron could walk there during the offseason. And if Boston could get Garnett and Ray Ray to re-sign for middle of the road money, say $10 for 2 years for Garnett, and $8 million for 2 years for Ray, then Boston would be able to run out

    DWill
    Ray
    Pietrus (whoever)
    Dwight
    Garnett

for a couple years run at championships, then rebuild on the fly with those contracts of Garnett and Allen expiring.
