I HATE it when you have to register at these stupid sites to read the entire article. This is a waste of time, I'm sure, but I was too curious.

The Nets are trying to pry Stromile Swift from Houston. They are concerned about Jason Collins and now have Marc Jackson wondering whether he'd be better off somewhere else after he was benched last night.

    Fun team, huh?

Yesterday, multiple league sources claimed the Nets and Rockets discussed a deal involving Swift for Jackson and a first-round pick, a deal that did not interest Houston. But the Nets are expected to intensify their quest as concern grows over Collins, who will undergo additional tests on his leg today.

The Nets had Swift as their second free-agent choice but after they appeared to sew up Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Swift signed with Houston. But Swift (who makes $5 million) has been a bench player, same as Jackson (who $4.55 million), who last night stayed calm and composed but was obviously upset by the DNP.

"A DNP means you can't help the team. If he don't think I can help the team, then maybe get rid of me for somebody you think can," Jackson said. "I think I show every day in practice I can help this team . . . I didn't get an opportunity tonight to help the team and that hurts."

Along with Jackson, coach Lawrence Frank benched Jeff McInnis and put Zoran Planinic on the inactive list.

"Coach's decision. I don't know what else to say," said McInnis.

Frank said the moves were about "trying to find some answers."

And they're trying to find answers about Collins. Their need for an inside presence could reach the critical stage because of the uncertainty of Collins, who returned to the starting lineup after coming off the bench Tuesday. Collins has missed seven games because of inflammation of the peroneal nerve.

"I'm just concerned long term," Frank said.

Collins was asked if he was worried about needing surgery. He gave a long pause.

"We're doing everything to try and manage it. We'll go from there. I'm trying not to worry," said Collins. "I felt it a little bit yesterday."

When he scored 14 points in Washington, Vince Carter failed to reach 20 points for the eighth time in 19 games. That equaled the number of times he failed to score 20 for the Nets in 57 games last season.

basically the same thing said in the articles in this thread http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=105943

and on top of that...if it was new info, it should still go into a existing thread that is obviously visible on the front page.
