"Because Rice voiced his displeasure with his role on a team full of small forwards when he was traded, the Knicks might be willing to send the Rockets further compensation to make sure the trade goes through and avoid an awkward situation if Rice returns."

How about if we just take Sprewell instead? He and Mobley would get along fine. ;)

    good scooping.

Doesn't NY have some picks left over from Seattle/Phoenix through Ewing?

A couple of other possibilities are Chenowith and Weis. Rudy saw Weis at the Olympics, and Weis, as I recall, had poor negotiations and won't sign in NY. Rockets supposedly liked Chenowith in workouts.

pdg-Carter poster infamy or not, Weis IS 7'2'', and 24 years old. According to his telebasket profile Weis sounds like a solid defender. There had to be some reason NY drafted him #15 over Artest, right?

Of course, we can get Jahidi and Sabonis too, and it'll be a load of fun in warmups. Who will get posterized the best? (worst?)

How about giving us Othella back! He'd help shore up the middle with a cheap price tag too.

Does anybody know anything about this Spencer guy on the Knicks? A 7 foot center (backup) that was the 6th pick in the 1990 draft.

You know that the Knicks are not going to offer us anything to good, but a draft pick or center would be greatly appreciated.

Les is smarter than I give him credit for, why else would he push the deadline to noon Friday. Talking about making all the other teams (involved) sweat!!!!!!! I wish I could of seen Feagan's reaction to this news!!!!

    You mean Felton Spencer??

If so, he's slow as molasses and always has this duh look on his face like he took the wrong turn at Albequerque.

I'd rather get Weis - at least he would make for good conversation on the bbs.

I do not wish for Othella back, the reason being our team is loaded with PFs. Already having Taylor, Griffin, and KT, with the addition of Othella, which possibly mean that KT will now become our 4th option at PF spot. Thomas is a very hard-working guy, and also one of our best post defenders, he should deserve some playing time on this Rockets team.

Since we're going to be over the cap for the next couple of years anyway, until Rice's contract expires, we cannot make offers to any big names on the free agent market. So why not ask for picks from the Knicks? I shall say, that should satisfy most of us on the board. We already have future all-stars in Steve and Cuttino, all we have to do is add solid role-players to our playoff-caliber team, and go challenge Lakers for the title.

I thought Vinsanity dunked over Olajuwon....wait a minute, Hakeem wasn't trying to "block" it, therefore he didn't get dunked over or on!!:D :D :D

Did anyone note that the Chron. article refered to Rice as our new "shooting guard"...I'm assuming this was an error on their part....right?

I know I've stated this before, but I think Harrington would be an excellent addition. I've seen the arguement that we have too many power forwards, but I think we could get away with playing him at the 5 spot, especially with the new rules. I think a combo of Cato, Collier and Harrington will be more than sufficient for the center position. I'd much rather have Harrington than a no talent 7 footer at center (Weis, until I'm proven wrong). I'd also rather have Harrington instead of a pick. We need a body at the 5 now, not a year or two from now, and even then the draft can be like a crap shoot when you are looking for a center.

After thinking about it, wouldn't this also be quite easy for New York to do? I mean we can just give more of our trade exemption to Dallas, and they'll be happy, and New York won't have to worry about the issues of getting Glen back, and Shandon will get his big bucks, and we'll have something in case Glen falls apart on us. Is there something I'm missing salary cap wise with this trade?

The Rice deal probably will go through. However, getting Chenowith would be a bonus. He may not make the team, but then again he might. He had a good workout for the Rockets before the draft -- I was glad we didn't draft him -- but, if we get him thrown into the deal as a bonus, then I think he deserves an in-camp look. Who knows? He might be a good back-up for the Cato - Collier tandem. At 7-2 or 7-3 Chenowith gives us a big-bodied banger and six hard fouls for Shaq.

Harrington at center in the West? He barely looks 6'9" I don't think he will fare well against the other centers. And Chenowith is as good as Zwikker...actually, he probably has more offense but just as slow. Point is he is just another body, and the Rockets can go out and sign a 7 footer whose only talent is to foul (Charles Jones).
