    If the Knicks are sold the buyer will likely be Larry Ellison... it won't be a group. It will be a mega billionaire guy like Ellison...

    According to The Ringer's Bill Simmons, Knicks owner James Dolan is seriously considering selling the team.
    In his most recent podcast, which was recorded Sunday night, Simmons said: "Multiple people told me this, who know things. James Dolan is courting offers for the Knicks. It’s happening. It’s on. It’s go-time. He’s courting offers for the Knicks. That’s what I heard at All-Star weekend from people I trust." However, The Madison Square Garden Company released a statement early Monday afternoon, denying the rumor. "The story is 100% false. There has been nothing. No discussions. No plans to have discussions - nothing."

    Looks like he's trying to time this the same way Les did when he sold the Rockets. Dolan is probably banking on Durant/Kyrie coming to the Knicks, which would elevate the value of the franchise so he can sell high.

    The knicks are already the most valuable team in the NBA. If he wanted to sell he would could already get some insane bid. Even teams in crisis like the clippers sell for way above what they are worth.

    True, but from a stability standpoint, if you were a new investor, you'd want the reassurance of knowing that you'd have superstar(s) on the roster. Dolan might get an absurd amount for the Knicks if he sold right this instant, but imagine what he'd get if Kyrie/KD were signed on the dotted line first.

    The problem (for Knicks fans) is that Doh-lan would probably have a change of heart if Katy and Kyrie (they rhyme!!) were stupid enough to sign up for his cover band shitshow. He'd want in on (and the credit for) whatever success they bring.

    His ego and perpetual embarassment are the only motivators for selling a cash cow like the Knicks.
