Cat a Nug (NY Daily News)

    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/story/252556p-216261c.html

Please, no more comparisons between Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James. The Nuggets' turmoil starts with Anthony. One scout who watched Denver this past week reports: "He's a killer. He doesn't run back on defense. He goes his own way when they try to run plays. He actually breaks up their sets. That's because he only cares about scoring, not getting others involved. And he doesn't look like he can play with Kenyon Martin." Meanwhile, as coach Jeff Bzdelik's seat gets hotter, the front office is trying to import a shooting guard. With Voshon Lenard's season-ending foot injury, Denver lost its top perimeter shooter. GM Kiki Vandeweghe is doing homework on Orlando's Cuttino Mobley.

A question mark at the end of your title might be helpful...

Definitely. I opened the thread all ready to lambast Weisbrod for stupidly trading a new player so soon when his team is doing quite well.

Ugh. I can't stand Mobley. Not to mention his contract would clog up our cap this summer. I hope this one isn't true.

this is his last year in the current contract. If he doesn't fit the system, you could let him walk. I don't understand your problem here. He leaves his heart on the floor every night, has an above average first step and shot, and he plays good d. Given these factors, what is not to like about getting Cat?

    He is better than Carmelo.

Well technically this isn't the last year of his contract. He does have a player option to get out this year, which he almost will certainly do. And personally, I think the Nugs landing Cat would be huge. It wouldn't make K-Mart play like an $90 million dollar man, but it would solidify the SG position.

Now you're just being silly. This summer you told us how much Keyon was going to make your team better while we tried to tell you the Nuggets didn't need him. He's just another Nene. Now you actually don't want a player your team needs. You have no shooting guards and your offense sucks. You need Mobley.

... and how is Mobley's contract big???

Try signing a veteran 2 guard for less who scores 15+ppg plays good defense and cans the triple at near enough to 40%

    Hmm

I'd take him, he'd be the perfect 6th man!

No. I even started a "Do you think we can resign Cat next offseason" thread in the GARM a couple of months ago. But the way he keeps talking about getting traded is like getting cheated on probably means that it isn't going to happen.

mobley's contract is the definition of a bargain. he's not the best at anything but every night he will bust his ass, play some defense, and hit some shots. he's not a superstar though sometimes he trys to hard to be one, but when he knows his role he's damn good. denver with zero shooters now could really benefit from someone like him.

The wolves will sign Cat to replace Spree. Bank on it. Unless of course the Magic don't resign him.

Whoever gets Mobley will be really lucky. He reminds me of a richer mans Derek Anderson. Thats saying a lot considering DA is pretty good when completely healthy. Mobley is a good defender and has a sweet stroke and can finish the breaks. How nice it would be to have another shooter and slasher that plays D like CAT back.

Mobley would be a VERY NICE addition to the Nuggets. He is exactly what they need at the SG spot. But what would they offer the Magic for him? Nene?

Mobley of course will be a FA after this season and I am sure he will opt out. He will be looking for a HUGE payday. He took less money to stay in Houston with Francis so now he will be looking for the bucks. Take a look around at what other SGs got this last offseason. You can bet Mobley will ask for the FULL MLE at the MINIMUM. Look what Q. Richardson and Stephen Jackson got. I am sure Mobley will be looking for those dollars. I dont think Denver has the cap room to do it so chances are they will have to make a trade. Nene is their best commodity that they would be willing to move.

The Magic have to hold on to Mobley, they have no other shooting guards except Stevenson who was promptly benched after getting one start.

He would be great for us. He can create his own shot, play good D, run the court. Not the smartest player but so what.
