This is the second time in their careers that Tim Thomas has been traded for Keith Van Horn. Decent trade for NY. Marbury seems to enjoy playing with athletic forwards like Thomas (Amare, Marion).
I like Nazr a lot, and I'm not a fan of Doleac or KVH's games, but you need to surround Steph with shooters. Van Horn was a bum around Starbury, but Doleac can pop out and nail the mid-range shot. Plus, Nazr and Thomas have longer contracts than Doleac and KVH. Another dubious Isiah'er move.
fact http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1735956 ESPN.com news services The New York Knicks have completed a three-way trade involving the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks, ESPN's Stephen Smith reports. Atlanta center Nazr Mohammed and Bucks forward Tim Thomas will go to New York and the Knicks will send Keith Van Horn to Milwaukee. Also, New York's Michael Doleac and Bucks center Joel Przybilla will head to Atlanta as part of the deal. The deal is expected to be announced later Sunday. With the two deals, Thomas continues to sever ties with the Scott Layden regime. Layden acquired Van Horn in August in a controversial trade for Latrell Sprewell. Doleac was signed last year as a free agent.
Just when you thought Isiah was making all the right moves. What a stupid trade. Isiah obviously doesn't like white players.
to me, the bad part about this trade was that this nicks squad was the first team I have ever thought Van Horn fit on. Defenses have to clue in on to many other weapons to do anything with Horn and he is such a solid shooter that he could make defenses pay. On the other hand, he plays no defense and never has any hope of playing good defense. So I guess we will see.
What? That is a good trade for NY. Mohammad is a better center than Doleac (especially defensively), and though not exactly injury free, is less of a player with IR permanetly stamped on his chest like Doleac. Tim Thomas might be slightly less talented overall than KVH, but is probably a slightly better spot up shooter to play off of Marbury and a more natural 3 for them. New York has a better team because of this deal.
Good trade for all concerned. NYK gets a legit center (in the Leastern Conference) with Nazr, who has regressed playing in ATL and a athlete extradordinare in Tim Thomas, who the Knicks have lusted over for years. ATL gets some salary cap relief from Nazr's contract and Milwaukee gets another shooter to go with their slashing duo of Desmond Mason and TJ Ford. I like this trade.
Righto, but is Nazr the right fit? Doleac came off the as a change of pace, nailing jumpers and spreading the floor. Now the Knicks have two big men in Deke and Nazr who clog the lane and little else. Thomas can't fall into bad habits, acting like a 6-8 Steve Kerr. Marbury has to involve him, or he'll fade away and clog the cap.
How Steph handles this trade in the media will go a long way in determining if he's matured much since his time in Jersey. It would be a smart move if Marbury tempered his comments about KVH after he heads to Milwaukee.
I think Atlanta's making a real hard push to get Kobe... Wallace: -17 mil Person: -7 mil Pryzbilla: -2.3 mil Jackson: -1 mil Misc.: -2.4 mil this offseason they would only have only $30 million worth of contracts. in 2005 offseason, they'll have 22.4 mil taken off from: brandon: 11 mil henderson: 8 mil crawford: 3.4 mil I think the NBA should just fold this franchise. Low attendence, no allstar player to build upon (sorry but I fail to recognize Jason Terry as an all star player)...this team will become the Bulls of 3 or 4 years ago when they had all the caproom and couldn't sign anyone. the players that they need to go after this offseason: Kobe Q Richardson Stromile Swift Kenyon Martin Manu Ginobili Hedo Turkoglu Brent Barry But I don't see them landing anyone besides a shot at getting Okafur in the lottery...that's IF they get the #1 pick. 2005 offseason is a bit more interesting: FAs Tyson Chandler Jamal Crawford Eddy Curry Marcus Fizer Carlos Boozer Steve Nash Antoine Walker Marcus Camby Troy Murphy Jason Richardson Marko Jaric Shane Battier Pau Gasol Latrell Sprewell Richard Jefferson Kerry Kittles Kurt Thomas Damon Stoudamire Bobby Jackson Tony Parker Ray Allen Ronald Murray Vladimir Radmanovic Donyell Marshall Andrei Kirilenko But since most of these guys are Restricted FA, Atlanta would be in a bind as well... As much as i whine and complain about the Rockets....I'm sure glad I don't live in Atlanta.
I think it was a good trade for the Knicks. Nazr is more athletic than Doleac and TT is a better fit IMO in NY than KVH. I think the Bucks did the best out of the three. Like mentioned in a post before, another shooter to go along with TJ, Mason, Redd.
Steal of a deal for NY. The Knicks may well be playing the Rox in June, or some other team from the West (should Rox get upset in the p/o).
I like this trade for New York. Tim Thomas may be less skilled than Van Horn but he's a superior athlete that is much better suited to the running game Marbury likes to play. Nazr Mohammed is probably better than anybody they're playing at center in NY.
