I'm looking for some recommendations on any nutrition and health videos streaming on netflix and/or youtube. I've watched all the popular documentaries like Foodinc, Supersize Me, Hungry for a Change, etc etc.

But, I'm more looking for an overview on nutrition and the human body - not a bunch of hippies talking about eating organics. Not sure if that makes sense.

I took a nutrition class in college and did a lot of research on my own back in the day when I was competing in athletics, but I've forgotten a lot of what I learned.
    Suggestions?

Fathead was meant to be a counter to Supersize Me. It's about a guy who eats at a fast food restaurant every day and doesn't gain weight. He goes into why this is and why Supersize Me is wrong.

It is done by pretty much one guy who is not in the movie industry so the production value is low. Very low.

Penn & Teller did a great show that covers debunking a lot of these fads and stuff. They've done a few on specific nutrition topics like organic food or exercise vs. genetics. They can be kind of abrasive, but information usually solid.

Wikipedia has a list of the episodes, but clutchfans filters out naughty words. Just search for Penn & Teller: Bull****!

Here's a youtube channel with nearly all episodes

And here's the episode on organic food

Thanks, Ive seen Forks over knives. I started on the Gary Taubes video 1 of 10. So far, it's mostly about obesity... not quite what I'm looking for. But I'll keep watching.

I bet you'll be watching whatever it is while sitting down on your couch and stuffing your face.

"Our specials today are a tofu and sprout burger...and a wheat germ soup with enhanced organic vitamin water."

"The name's Shilo. Oh...let's make fun of the hippy organic vegans."

    "HUHHUHUHUHUH"

"Why don't you go scarf a meat burger? Not you...you were sweet."

Insert Shilo Pic Here (if you follow)

    Supersize me was stupid.
Eat 5000 calories of anything and you will have serious problems.

The author of the video makes a big point of that. Personally, I don't think calories are a huge factor. Nutrisystems and Weight Watchers will usually tell you something like 'eat as much as you want' in their commercials. This implies they don't see counting calories as meaningful either.

In the video they also talk about how Spurlock (the guy who did Super Size Me) doesn't make his food log public. How the hell could anyone do an experimental diet and not make their food log public info? Extremely sketchy.

    Here's a good presentation on Ketosis from a M.D.

Great thread idea, by the way. I find the topic of nutrition to be pretty interesting but most of the information available is very shallow.

Here's an interactive video about nutrition, training and supplements.

True, they are jackasses, but that doesn't mean it can't be a great show. I particularly enjoyed their evisceration of anti-vaccine idiots

I think you'll get the meat of the Taubes perspective if you just watch that part he posted. For me, the benefit from Taubes' book (Why We Get Fat) is that it opened up new possibilities for maintaining and losing weight through diet that are easier and healthier than any mainstream methods out there. It kind of led me a Paleo style diet, which has benefited me quite a lot on the month or so I've been working with it.
