Nice for God of War 3 (and not surprising). Sony should have had GoW2 ready for the PS3 launch. FFXIII 360/PS3 numbers aren't surprising either (I bought in on PS3 as well) but 360 did do a little better than I expected. Battlefield continues to roll. rightfully so. Nintendo domination also continues. also no surprise. I finally got to play New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It is awesome.
Wonder how much more units PS3 would have pushed had there not been the supply shortages. With the release of two blockbusters back-to-back I'd have expected it to at least beat the 360.
I agree. I was expecting PS3 to win this month (at least over the 360) with God of War 3 selling over 1 million and Final Fantasy selling 160% more on the PS3 than 360. Sony really seems inept this generation. Their marketing and sales strategies have been odd of bungled from the get-go. You think they would have ramped up production for two AAA titles coming out the same month so stores would have had ample systems on hand.
Yeah, can't find PS3s anywhere. I could have seen PS3 at at least 500K if they had the supply this month.
Yeah, but it still sells systems. Judging from the fact that the PS3 version outsold the 360 almost 2:1, it seems people prefer the game on PS3.
Why are people still buying so many Wiis? PS2s and it's games are dirt cheap. I can see why a limited number of people still buy them.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean it would have sold systems. I'd point more to God of War for that. Either way, any 'shortages' probably wouldn't have made a big difference. PS3 has pretty much stuck in third place (in terms of sales) this entire generation, with only one or two months exception. 500K? That's like DS numbers or early holiday numbers. I doubt that would have been the case.
Don't see why they would have taken a team that had only made one game that sold pretty well (but not a "system seller" yet), have them scrap all their technology they just built, and have them make sequel on a new platform that would be ready to go in 18-24 months. Oh, and it better be one of the best actions games available too...and all with a new game designer. Now maybe they could have had the GoW collection available back then, or something like that, but I'm assuming that isn't what you meant. Speaking of which, apparently that collection has sold really well. Thought I saw 650K somewhere, although I don't know if that is legit. It has been in the Top 20 for several months, so wouldn't doubt it. Maybe that will push other developers to put out HD collections on the PS3. And as for 500K for PS3...I really doubt that. I haven't really kept up with the shortages, but as Rokkit pointed out, 500K would be incredible. Perhaps even more so because that would be for US PS3 sales (not Wii, DS, etc.). Maybe 350K-400K without shortages...unless there are lines of people hanging outside of Best Buy that I somehow missed. On another note, Heavy Rain was in the Top 20 for the month. Think I read something a little while back that it has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. They were only expecting 200K-300K, so they're pretty happy about it.
