After losing Landry in the trade, we must resign Scola this offseason. Landry could have moved into the starting PF role if we decided not to sign Scola again, but with Landry gone, we are going to need our starting PF back.

I'm sure we would have made a big push for Scola in the offseason before, but now it's a necessity.

he's restricted so it was obviously Moreys easier choice.

Not going to be a problem resigning him.

Isn't if he is restricted, we can match other offers? What is another team offers him way more than Les wants to pay? Unless we have another option for a starting PF in the FA, we may have to spend alot on him...

well, if we're not signing a big free agent, we can't afford to sign just trash.

we BETTER resign both scola and lowry.

I thought about making a thread about this.

If for some reason Scola decides to sign elsewhere in the offseason, we are screwed. Remember the pre-Scola/Landry years when we had no PFs at all?

If he's restricted and someone overpays for him ala David Lee/Varajao, does Morey match? I doubt it.

Scola is average! They need to get someone better than him now.

Other moves can always be made to upgrade, so I wouldn't say its a must.

I highly doubt Scola gets over MLE and I think matching up to there would be acceptable, depending on the amount of years. He's not young, he's not exactly well-known as he doesn't get highlight reels at all, and there's a lot of PFs out there. No one will go into 8 to 9 million for Scola.

Something I posted on other threads to clarify my take on Scola

"Nobody believes this but D. Morey is targeting C. Bosh... 3 out of the 4 incoming players expire after this season.. ++++ we have about 3 players coming off the books as well.

Chris Bosh will become a Rocket this Off-Season!

    Starting Lineup

    Yao Ming
    Chris Bosh
    Shane Battier
    Kevin Martin
    Aaron Brooks

    6th Man
Ariza (God I hope he gets traded somehow)

I will also predict that if Scola doesn't agree to a friendly contract that he will be gone in a sign and trade (or multiple team trade) for Bosh."

    1. Scola is good trade material
    2. Bosh would eat up his minutes
    3. You guys are forgetting that D. Morey has a knack for targeting hidden gems (backups)... I'm sure D. Morey could find a backup PF with a 2nd rounder or other means.

Especially because no one CAN... If I'm not mistaken the max starting salary Scola can get is around 6.5 million according to the CBA! And I remember him in his firsts nba days saying he's already made all the money he wanted over in Europe so for him it is not about money anymore... I see him finishing his career as a Rockets, unless something really strange happens! The guy's a rock, he won pratically everything that he could've won in his career, even the olympic gold medal... The only thing missing is the NBA Ring and I would like to see him getting that in a Rox uniform! Right now he's a bargain at 3 million a season, if he gets 6 it's gonna be a bargain again when out there 10/10 people get 12 millions a year for just being somewhat athletic, this guy know how to play basketball, we would be crazy to let him go...

We will have both Armstrong and David Andersen.

The Boozer idea is not all that bad.

Explain to me why we can't sign Bosh....

He was stating the off season and not now....

So if there's talk of being able to sign Boozer, please explain to me why we can't Bosh...
