Ariza is an excellent pickup for us but he has similar skills as Battier, tough defender, versatile, can hit clutch shots. So what we need now is a pure SG who can make jumpers from the outside and Rudy fits that perfectly. Portland is looking at making a run at Turkoglu and Fernandez is upset. This is right time to make a deal for him with Battier being that defensive presence and veteran leader the Blazers truly need. Rockets are really looking to rebuild so what better way to do it than start with young players at each position that have the right skills for that position. Battier and Ariza in the lineup creates the same problem as Battier and Artest, similar guys playing the same position. With Fernandez, his role is clear he plays the PURE SG who can knock down shots with consistency. Please consider this as your next move Daryl.
As much as I love Shane, I'd do that in a heartbeat... This team has to progressively get younger and more equipped to fill up the buckets.
Agreed. But the idea has been mentioned in quite a number of threads and I don't think it deserves a new one.
I wouldn't maybe outlaw and rudy... but in the playoffs I thought Von played as well as rudy. People are over hyping this guy.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU....Ever since Yao went down this is the move I have been begging for that can transform the Rox into something more then just watchable but competitve...Rudy F. and Outlaw would make us a contender again very quickly...
You couldn't of posted this in the appropriate thread entitled Post Your Rockets Trade Scenarios Here? Really?
wow this thread is getting replies faster than aaron brooks blowing past steve blake and derek fisher... in my opinion...we aren't getting good enough value if we trade Battier for just Fernadez and Outlaw... how about Battier and Brooks for Rudy Gay and Marco Jaric's bad contract??? hmmm
I would kill to get Rudy, but it looks like Portland is serious about signing Hedo, so would not need Battier. If a third team is needed (to get Portland a vet PG), then I would rather give up Landry. I don't know why everyone is so intent on getting rid of Battier.
If we can add Fernandez and a very serviceable big I can see the flashy play from Adelman's Sac-Town days approaching.
I wonder if Atlanta would do a sign and trade where we get Zaza and the rights to Josh Childress in exchange for Battier and Landry. Now that we have Ariza, I think Childress would be a solid starting 2 (or if we eventually get a better 2, a great 6th man) while Zaza would give us an interior presence. I like Rudy Fernandez but I don't think much of Outlaw - he reminds me of Artest in the way he can shoot you out of a game.
I think Portland want's Hedo as a Point forward type, so Shane would still be valuable to them when either Hedo is running the point, or anytime Roy or Hedo take a breather since Roy and Hedo are both capable of playing the 2.
