Tonights Line: 24 pts 8 rebounds 9 assists to go along with 2 steals! Let's hope this is the start of something big for Mr. Sura.
See what kind of offense you could have by running like the Suns and Sonics, JVG. Just Ask UH who under Tom Penders play the same style and they are looking good right now.
lol. I wish. He'd be the best point guard in the west if he could play like this every night. However, he's never played on a team with Tmac and Yao....I am hoping he's one of those guys that knows how to exploit a system not concentrated on stopping the point guard.
He really had a breakout second half last year when he was a constant triple double threat. Here are his stats for all of last year: 14.7 ppg 5.3 assists 8.3 rebounds This is why we got him and I am hoping he is now healthy and in the groove enough to continue producing at last year's levels.
Here's your original answer in Spanish: Ja Ja Ja. Deseo.
I would take that. I would mind him reversing the rebound and assist numbers. If he can average ~15 pts / ~7 asst / ~5 reb the rest of the way, we will win a lot more games. If JJ can figure out what is wrong with him and the PF's can rebound and play defense (JHoward had 10 rb's tonight) and we can get a few points off the bench (MoT is pretty much it) things will get better.
Where's tinman's X-Factor post??? That was some kind of revenge for him... PG situation seems to be solved, now about that PF, hmm....
Nice breakout game for him tonight. I doubt he can play this well night in and night out but if he can give us 12-14 pts and 5-6 assists along with the solid defense and rebounding he has already shown then we have found our solution at point guard. His shooting (especially 3 point shooting) should continue to improve as the games go by. Hopefully he can the 4th scoring option behind JJ that we have been lacking.
The power of X FACTOR! Granted it was the Warriors, Sura played like the X Factor we thought he would be. Or I thought he would be!
This game definitely shows Sura at his best. Lots of running and penetration. Of course, remember we are playing the Warriors. Against a good defensive team, I'm sure some of Sura's points would've been turnovers instead. However, there's no doubt that against uptempo teams like the Sonics, Mavs, or the Suns, Sura can be very effective slicing through their defenses. But he's not as suited in slower, half-court games.
You just don't run WELL because you want to - it is more about personel than anything else. I am not sure I can break this down any further. Please someone get this guy a clip of JVG's Thursday radio show on 610. What Sura did today was special. I am sure I have not seen such total exhibition and selflessness in over 3 years as a Rockets fan. I will not expect such to be the norm for Sura since GS Warriors are not that great a defensive team but it gives me hope. In summary every team wants to run efficiently but every team is not blessed with great PG minds like JKidd, Nash, or even Ridnour. Your big men has to feel the lane too. Motay and Tracy did a good in that regards. Sadly Yao was gassed early as a result of the more up tempo game in the 3rd but he hung in there nicely.
Sura was definately great. Even his jumper was on. 9-10 from the field, and a 9-1 assist-turnover ratio. In football they have a qb rating system where iirc 162.00 is the highest it's possible to achieve. If they had something like that for the NBA, I'm sure Sura would have about a 160.00 tonight. And since I don't see a thread already about it, what did JVG say on his radio show?
Good point. Probably true. We do not want to play uptempo games with those teams though. lol. We idiotically tried against the Mavs last game, remember what happened? With those teams, you give up offensive rebounds, and you don't shoot in the first 10 seconds of shot clock.
