    TRADE for PICKS..

Lets trade some of our expendable pieces for a serviceable big (Rumor has it: Head for Foster deal is on the table) and then the rest for future picks..

If the Rockets land a future 1st rounder AND a future 2nd rounder (most likely in separate deals). I would say this OFFSEASON has been perfect!

    Some trade assets:

    Expendable group
    Sura's contract
    JL3
    Snyder

Less expendable group, but if a deal comes up that you can't pass up, you got to do what you got to do

    In order:
    1. Alston - As our starting PG last season, he is without a doubt a great option for our INSURANCE PG
    2. Head - I like him alot, but he also carries the most trade value. Would be very sad to see him go.
    3. Brooks - Just starting to get used to him, I'd like to have him as a project on the Rockets. As Francis and Bonzi are only on one year contracts.

Trading these players/contracts in different combinations may land us what we need.

I've always said trading for picks makes more sense. Head and Mobley are basically a wash. I think Cat maybe a little more athletic but Head hasn't been able to show what he can do besides camp out at the three and shoot long range bombers. If we can get some first round draft pics for some decent young talent to bring along, I'd do it. We should also be exploring what it would take to replace Deke after this year so that's another reason for trading for picks.

Alston and JL3 are definately pretty much gone i would guess, and Head and Snyder aren't far behind. And you are absolutely right in that what we need right now are DRAFT PICKS. This year's free agent market is pretty much done, and our chances of landing another guy via a trade who isn't way overpaid or overrated are pretty slim.

Draft picks are not only ways to get potential in future drafts, they are also trade chips that would give the rockets a lot of flexibility.

If Morey pulls this off, either by offering guys straight up or as a facilitator in a multi team trade (where we could make the numbers work with Sura's/Head's contract) , he gets an A+ instead of an A on his first summer GM report card.

You forgot to add Reed in the expendable group and Novak and Butler in the less expendable group. Butler has to stay unless we sign Deke, then he's only in the less expendable group.

Are you on crack, Aaron Brooks is untouchable, I don't care if the suns offered Nash in exchange and somehow the deal worked out, I wouldn't trade him. I think we are done for trades as of this moment.

I agree with you Brooks is going to surprise some people, I don't understand why we keep Novak. He has done nothing to impress me, the same with Snyder I know he is athletic but he has no B-ball IQ. He looked lost everytime he was in the game.Reed? i know nothing about him. I would trade JL3 to Denver for Najera or Head and Novak for Haslem and a future pick. Miami could fill Kapono void and p/u Head who they wanted in the draft.

    Yao/Deke/Butler
    Scola/Hayes/Novak
    Battier/Bonzi/Reed
    McGrady/Francis/Snyder
    James/Alston/Brooks

15 players 3 on the disabled list Brooks, Reed, & Novak.

I think a Rafer for Najera trade would really round out the roster.

I think you keep Rafer because they need Steve to be the scoring option when T-Mac is out.

Do anyone you realize by signing Scola and Francis to 3 mil a piece deals, the Rockets are now around 70 million in guaranteed salaries. I expect some major salary dumping in the next few days.

Guys that are gone for sure.
    1. Rafer Alston - no brainer he said it himself.
    2. John Lucas III - maybe to New Orleans for cash
    3. Luther Head - I would love to keep him but no room in rotation for another combo guard. Sorry Bye!!!

Who's the crackhead? You won't trade a short, late first round pick for arguably the best PG in the league. And someone else is the crackhead? Wow. Most people agree the Rockets have a 2 or 3 year window. So, you'd be crazy not to make that trade if it were in the realm of possibility. Which, it's not.

That said, I like what little I've seen of Brooks and hope he's good enough to get some serious minutes this year.

I don't know about that, I REALLY like him. He's the best 3pt shooter in our team (44%) and plays good D. One of our best perimeter defender though a bit undersized... Must find a diff way to dump salaries..

Actually no. Head choked in the postseason, is one-dimensional. Athletic... a bit, but doesn't have enough BB IQ to use it. I don't know... maybe it was just the JVG system?

JVG's system doesn't have much room for improvising or make plays outside of your set role. I blame it on JVG and his system. He trained Head into a one-dimensional player. Watch some of his clips in college, he was a totally different player.
