Do we really have a choice? What are the other primary SF/SG free agent options?

He went out on a sour note, but don't forget how huge he was in our clincher vs Portland. But again, he's so inconsistent and volatile.

if he decides to continue to do what he does on the defensive end, and stop dribbling so much, we should 100% sign him. he brings toughness to the team, a LOT of toughness

i rather not. his defense has been exposed in both series. and his offense is even more inconsistent than rafer it appears.

we should look into other options before looking to sign ron, unless he's willing to sign for $6-8 mil/year

    2 Questions about this..

-How much money does Ron want?

-Is Ron willing to adjust to a new role?

I don't want Ron if it's anymore than 7 million and I don't want Ron if he's willing to think he's Kobe Bryant. All said and done, the Rockets need to think long and hard about the players in the 2009 Free agent class before re-signing Artest.

    1. He's almost single-handedly responsible for our improved team toughness and getting out of the 1st round and not choking.

    2. He's getting slower to the point where he cannot guard any guards in this league anymore.

    3. Who else can we get to play small forward who is better? In Morey we trust.

yes, his value doesn't come much on the court but he still is a great defender but he has giving this team a backbone and that's value to me

so you want to get rid of both TMAC and Ron? I don't Ron is going to resign though. He still has quite a few years left in this league.

We need to shop around to see whos available. Artest is slightly overrated and rewarding him with a 2+ year contract(considering the money he will demand) will hurt us in the long run.

i dont really see how people are saying artest has brought us toughness....

you are telling me the team that won 22 straight and battled utah for 6 games (could have won the series if rafer wasn't out the 1st two) wasn't tough ????

JVG brought us the defensive mind state and toughness. we have already had that for years.

I don't mind resigning him, but not for more the $10/per. For all his dumb shots and overdribbling, he still add much needed toughness to our team. In Morey we trust.

Keep him. Good Cop/Bad Cop with Battier is the best SF defensive tandem in the league.

we were tough last year tinman. who else would make the jazz cringe and scared through the series with your best post player out, PG out for 2.5 games, and your other 2 best players injured?

we've BEEN tough. ron helped too obviously this year.

I would love to Resign Ron provided T-Mac is gonna be traded for a good playmaker who can slash and cut..

Ron and Mac cannot co-exist because they dont run the offense properly. Mac dominates the ball.. Ron dribbles too much .. we cannot have both players on the same team..

You either keep Ron and sign a good playmaker..

or you trade ron. keep T-mac .. and sign a guard who can shoot lights out..

considering Mac is injured and his return is a huge question mark.. I would go with the first option

Well, the problem is that Ron can't coexist with an offensively talented player. And we can't win anything with Ron playing Tmac's role.
