I am disappointed that Ohio State will be playing in the national championship, since I would rather win in the Rose Bowl than lose. Since the championship isn't played in Big 10 climates, Ohio State automatically becomes the underdog. Maybe Ohio State gets lucky and plays Hawaii... Go Bucks.
It's definitely going to be interesting since Va. Tech won and was ranked ahead of LSU going into this week. Not to mentioned both Georgia and Kansas were ranked ahead of both teams and neither played this week.
Yeah, but since neither team played nor won their conference or their division, I believe they are at a disadvantage. LSU and V-Tech both won their conference and beat other teams ranked in the BCS. I just think they will give the nod to LSU. Hopefully I am wrong and somehow Georgia or Kansas sneaks in there but it is unlikely.
Taking WVU and Mizzou out of the equation, LSU has to jump 3 teams. That's a tall order. Georgia and Kansas didn't even win their divisions. VaTech has legitimate claim. LSU could argue that they should be ranked higher because they b****slapped VT early in the season. But VT can argue that that's already been factored in and they're still ranked ahead of LSU in the BCS. VT can argue that LSU didn't do enough this week to jump them becasue VT beat a better team this week than LSU did. VT has a very legitimate claim for being in the championship over LSU.
I've been routing for LSU since the Gators were out of contention. Every fiber of my being hates Georgia since the (non-alcoholic) cocktail party against Florida. What a bunch of classless a-holes. There's no way in hell they should be in the bowl game. Before the season started I said the championship game should be between the SEC champ and next highest ranked team. I'm still sticking w/ it. I've got to search for that post...
All of this really discredits the BCS anyway, if it was not already discredited. Remember why the BCS was put into place? To ensure that the two best teams played for the national title without dispute and since its inception in 1998, it rarely has backed its cause. This season is even more disheartening for those that want to keep it around. If I remember correctly, is it not the Big Ten's commissioner or a Big Ten university president or head that is holding a playoff system back?
Oh, there are several teams that can make claims about why they should be in the title game. I am just guessing LSU makes it, I could be totally wrong. I hope it is a matchup that makes the BCS crumble though.
I think he was talking about their ranking, that's all that really matters. I mean we could sit here and argue for the rest of the year about who the better teams were but all that really matters is rankings.
But see, this is great. This is why we need a playoff. Ohio State only has 1 loss LSU never lost a game in regulation VT is ranked higher than LSU and did nothing to lose that spot. Georgia and Kansas are ranked above VT and LSU and can argue they shouldn't lose their spots either. Oklahoma, USC, and West Virgina all won their conferences and have 2 losses, just like VT and LSU Hawaii is undefeated (but losing to Washington 20-0). This is great. Die BCS die! I don't think it's going to change anything though.
