I've been telling you guys and gals for a while now...

He'll have surgery in the off season.

He's up against more than any of us know.

    And not just his knee...

    Knee holds back T-Mac

Turns out, there might be an explanation for Tracy McGrady's quiet fourth quarters.

If you're thinking it has something to do with his toughness or resolve, you're about to feel awfully bad for being so negative.

McGrady revealed Monday that he's playing on a left knee that's in such bad shape that he has had to take painkilling injections just to get on the floor. He hinted postseason surgery is a possibility.

Say this for the man: he understands news cycles. Reporters showed up at Monday's practice wanting to ask about his second-guessing of Rick Adelman, and McGrady greeted them with fresh headlines.

That he has a sore knee is no secret. What hasn't been known is what McGrady says is the severity of the injury.

"It is back to that situation where it was in the beginning of the season," he said. "I'm still playing. I played on it the other night. I took a couple of shots. I'll be playing on it."

    You had to ask
McGrady spoke about his knee only when asked, so it wasn't like he was offering up an alibi for shooting 38 percent in the series or for going 3-for-16 in the fourth quarter.

Asked how the bad knee had limited him, McGrady said: "My elevation. There has been a couple times when I went to the basket I would have dunked, finished over the top. I don't even know if it (needs) rest. I might have to talk to the doctors and see. It might need something I don't want to have to do. We'll see."

We need to get this guy to the MRI machine fast.

    We've already learned a lesson fromYao's situation.

Keep him or trade him in the offseason, he's worthless to the team if he's damaged goods.

    How do I feel?

I feel like our superstars get injured way too often. They're made of glass.

Ship their asses out, thats how I feel? I am suppose to feel sympathy? No.

So if we win, he plays more on an injured knee.

If we lose, we bite it earlier?

This season sucks ass. The streak makes me both happy and sad.

There won't be any major surgery. Count on it.

His knee is in pain because he's been playing too much. Sit down T-Mac.

I'd rather have Brooks shooting 9 of 25 than T-mac. At least Brooks has potential to improve.

if it's in really bad shape, sit him out. He needs to get healthy and not risk serious injury. Maybe play less, maybe shoot less, whatever it is, be smart.

I would not be angry if he was sitting with a serious injury. I have every right to be angry if he's playing while knowing that he will not produce.

We are not going to win with him this year anyway.
Just rest T-Mac as much as possible.
I think his trade value is still high since his playoff stats is good.
So, let's trade him for Hamilton or Billsup this summer.

is that worse than injury prone?

    is it different at all?

Well, playing through injuries is not soft. "Soft" implies that he is faking injuries, or is gutless. McGrady may be injury prone, but it's certainly not a reflection of his character.

I feel it's a reality check. He is always about this injured, and have adjusted my expectations accordingly.

it might be if you consider injury prone often follows lack of conditioning

Then would you say Yao has a lack of conditioning? Because he is sure as hell just as injury prone as T-mac.

He said it is something wrong with his tendon. He needs to get quick MRI and he needs to meet with doctors. Offseason is comming so make sure you are 100% healthly before next one.

Maybe the surgery will not be needed.
