Will get their chance to see how the team is managed without him. I know Mr. Mean isnt the ideal coaching candidate, but the sonics game should give us an idea of whethr the player are making bad decisions or Rudy is.
I have to disagree. The last thing we will see in Rudy's absence is a change in coaching style and/or decisions. Our offense will be the same. Our defense will be the same. Mr. Mean knows the substitution patterns, so those won't change. The last thing Mr. Mean is going to do is take over the team and make changes to our normal way of doing things. He is not a new coach, but rather, an extension of Rudy. The only thing I possibly see even remotely being affected by his abscence is crunch time decisions.
Mr Mean!!! Damn, I love that nickname! I wonder the players call him that? I wonder if he makes his kids call him that? I would!! Best of luck to him on the road trip. And I do hope we get Rudy back soon and in good health.
Mr. Mean is cool but have you ever heard him speak. I was nearly laughing my *ss off because he talks like Mike Tyson. Here he is looking all big and intimdating but when he opens his mouth out comes this schoolgirl voice. Anyway its not really basketball related so sorry.
I agree Mr. Mean will bring nothing new to the table. I wish the Rockets would follow in the Mavericks foot steps and bring in some asst. coaches with some NBA coaching experience.
Common man it will be naive to use this as a proper gauge. And more importantly Rudy needs us now - it is not fair for us discussing this trivial issue when his going through very important tests.
Didn't the rockets let one of their assistant coaches call out plays at the end of the year a couple of years ago? IIRC, there was a difference in which plays the assistant coach, I think it was Mr. Mean, and Rudy called. Anyone else seem to remeber this?
Mr Mean will employ a full court defense, isos for Boki, and he'll experiment with Yao at SG. That would be funny if Francis plays defense for the first time of his career, during this short stretch without Rudy.
