I've been limiting my play of Dragon Age to about 1-2 hours per day max and I still think it's one of the best games, if not the best, I've played in the past 5 years (but, of course, I'm probably forgetting something... ).
Dragon Age is a great game. I agree with DoD on this one. I thought AC2 would be available out beginning next year. Good to know it is already here.
Just bought Mario Bros. Wii last night and played some 2-player with my girlfriend. Holy crap, it's fun and nostalgic. Nothing is more hilarious than picking up a Koopa shell and firing at your significant other, killing them. You can sabotage each other in such hilarious ways. Great party game too, even though it's your basic Mario game. And, of course, playing single-player is fun as well.

Hey DD, I know you're involved with the video game industry. I may have missed all the discussions in the past about what exactly it is that you do. Can you fill me in a little bit? I know most of the video game industry in Texas is based in Austin like Blizzard, Capcom, Retro Studios to name a few. I work for a software company now on the marketing side, finishing up my MBA in marketing as well. It would be a dream for me to get into the business but I don't really know whats here in Houston.
Also, This probably has more to do with Ubisoft but is there a reason that the PC release of Assassins Creed II is set for March, 2010 as opposed to Nov, 2009 like the console versions? It seems as though so many game companies are trying to steer clear of the PC now. First microsoft discontinues production of its wired controllers for the PC and its Windows Live network, opting not to release Halo 3 or Gears of War 2 for PC, and then no dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 2. Assassins Creed II being delayed 4 months also makes me wonder.
Great question, and as I understand it there are a couple of reasons. 1. The compatibilty issue with PCs....all the different sound cards and video cards etc cause a lot more debugging than with a standard console that has set perameters. and 2. The fact that the PC side gets hacked and put out on the internet for people to download sometimes before the game even hits the market....so PC gamers just have to wait..... Also, you can make PC products unique by adding in some more content etc..... But I think the trend continues.....actually you can blame it on two sources, one the internet pirates, and two Game stop and their selling of used products...they generate about 90% of their profit from reselling games and the publishers/developers get none of that money. It is why DLC (downloadable content) is becomming so popular, if you can get people to keep their disks because more content is coming, it is a win for developers and publishers. I hope that answers your questions. And Tinny, there are a LOT of them at Ubisoft.....more than any other publisher by a LONG LONG way. DD
I think tinman is talking specifically about Jade Raymond, who was a producer for AC1. Has she been doing any PR for AC2? I haven't really followed the game. I don't recall seeing her since AC1 was released. Though maybe she was at E3 and I forgot.
I don't think there is much if any online content, so whatever system you play more. I plan on getting it for 360.
From the AU IGN review: "In terms of engine quality, however, the difference between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions is literally night and day. Starting with the shocking difference in contrast and colour depth, the Xbox 360 version's high-dynamic range lighting is more intense and casts deeper shadows and renders a darker night. In our direct comparisons between the two games, the PS3 version looks noticeably flatter and more washed out, detracting from the ambience. The PS3 version also suffers from a lower texture resolution, which affects everything from facial details (you can see freckles and pores on the 360, but faces, lips and hair looks almost universally blurry on PS3), to wall and ground textures, leaves and particle and debris effects. I know it's almost passé to rag on the differences, but it really does surprise us how large the gap between the two versions is. It does begin to affect the gameplay too when the PS3's juttering and screen tearing starts to rattle the frame during action sequences involving multiple characters. Hopefully Ubisoft can address some of these concerns with a patch as soon as possible, but at this stage, the PS3's version once again lacks polish." Take it for what you will. No other site has mentioned anything like that, but they did, so who knows.
That seems odd. This comes right on the heels of GameSpot's insistence that Dragon Age looks way better on the PS3 than the 360. Funny how some games look way better on one system than the other.
