I'd pick Gay, and Novak will probably still be around for the second round..

Which is basically what we did.. without the trade for Battery

I see your point about the preseason stats, but seriously... anyone who drafts Novak over Gay needs to have their head checked.

I doubt he'll average those stats once Gasol gets back, and other teams will actually be trying to win with their best players against him but we'll see... He looks like a guy who could turn into a perennial all-star. For now though, we made the right move and Novak is perfect for what we need. What's to feel bad about at this point?

Rudy Gay no brainer. They are totally different. Gay "may" have the potential to be a star that a team can be build around. Novak will be a very good role player.

Of course Gay would still be taken over Novak, but SuperNova would definitely be a lower first round pick based on what he's shown.
Now,Kill Bill on the other hand could very well have gone 10 -12 based on what he's starting to show.

The Nova-mania has oficially gone overboard. Gay will be a great player in this league, it will just take awhile... He will be an All-Star in 2011.

I am not sure about this. An all star in 2011 won't help us to win a ring in the next 2 years but a 48% 3p shooter might.

I dont think Rudy Gay is going to be a superstar. I think he is going to make the same impact as players like Battier, Kmart. I saw some of the games he played this preseason and his shooting is terrible (41% which is very low for a PF) and does not focus on defense and rebounds at all and for a forward thats really important. But he is still a rookie and can get better. But then again I would have choose him over Novak just because i wouldnt have knows how good Novak would have turned out. But if had to choose at this moment, I would choose Novak, because watching him play he does not even look like a rookie.

And yet so many people choose Novak over Gay. lol.

Rudy Gay = potential. But then again Stromile Swift = potential.

Steve Novak = pure shooter (role player).

I rather take the risk and go for GAY.

Why compare these two? Gay is a top prospect. Novak may find a niche in the NBA as a steve kerr type, but he'll never have the potential to be a star like Gay. But they aren't meant to be compared.

WTF? You're willing to wait FOUR YEARS for an all-star instead of having a 3-point sharpshooter? UN-freakin'-believable.

This is like asking do you want a Playboy girl or a blow up doll?

    Just kidding

I really like Novak. But here are their respective skills.

    Athleticism Rudy Gay
    Ball Handling Rudy Gay
    Passing Rudy Gay
    Rebounding Rudy Gay
    Quickness/defense Rudy Gay
    Shooting Steve Novak

Just because he might not be an all star until 2011 doesn't mean that he will not be a better player than Novak in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. He most likely will be better by a good margin.

He could also become like a Darius Miles, or Eddie Griffin.

    Novak's a star

I'm really surprised that so many choose Novak over Gay. For me it's always Gay although I'm a big Rockets and Yaoming fan.
