Zo is the last piece of the Georgetown connection I 'wish' for the Rox. He and Mo at the 4 -- priceless (50 mil worth of priceless that is). If Zo plays for the Nets the nite of November 23rd his contract is guaranteed (insurance purposes etc). NJ will buy him out or trade him by that game. Where better to land than here? Then, with Sura back in December maybe this team can start to take off.
Nobody dare to take that chance. If his kidney has problems again, you have 10million dollar locked up for next two years for nothing.
No team will trade for him with that contract which means the Nets will buyout his contract. The Rockets could then sign him for the vets minimum and the risk is WELL worth it.
if we could get him for the vet minimun then ya it would be a great deal, but if we play as we have so far we'll just be middle of the pack and i'm sure he is looking for a definite contender, not just a team with alot of promise. he is 34 and wants to win now he'll look to latch on to a team like the heat and back up shaq or something to that nature.
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/nets/story/253197p-216786c.html Pat urges Zo to quit Patrick Ewing got to see his good friend Alonzo Mourning play in front of him last night. But if he had his way, he would not see Mourning play another minute again. "I told him that at the start of training camp," said Ewing, now an assistant coach for the Rockets who asked Mourning not to come back for the second time in as many years. "But that is what he wants to do. All I can do is hope that everything goes well and wish him the best. Everybody who (Mourning) is close to feels the same way. "Basketball is very important in my life and his life but there is life after basketball. We want to make sure he is around."
He's putting up 12/7 @ 26mpg. The health issue is always going to be there, but for the league min I would take him.
Zo would be a great solution to our defenseless output at 4 currently. Upgrade in all respects. We don't need offense at that position, we need someone that will back up Yao in the front court.
I agree that Zo would be a pretty decent option at the four, but I'm willing to bet there are other teams out there that need his help even more badly and are willing to pay for it. Aside from the kidney concerns, it would also be a bit worrisome to get even older and even slower in the frontcourt.
