I'm only mentioning it this time because they dissed us while discussing golf of all sports. Basically they were discussing what golfers would win the upcoming major (US Open I think?) since Tiger isn't there....similar to when MJ decided to retire and someone just had to win in his absence. They mentioned us and MJ twice. &^$# ESPN....... Edit: Oops, meant to put this in the Rockets forum.
When the Rockets won their back to back titles, nobody would've beaten them...not the Bulls with Jordan and not the Sonics either...nobody. No doubt the Sonics were a tough matchup, but the year before the 1st championship Houston took them to game 7 overtime in Seattle and lost. I believe they would've gotten over that hump the following year, but Deke and company took care of them. So screw anybody who tries to diminish Houston's championships.
ESPN is as about as authoritative on sports as Rachel Ray is cooking. They couldn't possibly watch enough sports to know what they're talking about.
If we stood a chance against any Bulls team it would have been 1995 because they had no rebounding nor defense in the frontcourt. 1994 they would have killed us. If it took us 7 games to beat the Knicks who were up 3-2 on us and it took the Knicks to beat a Jordan less Bulls in 7, they would have owned us in 1994.
Likewise, last year's Rockets would have had no shot against the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks took the Celtics to a tough 7 games and the Celtics had easily handled the Lakers who had beaten the Jazz who had beaten us. So, the Hawks would have easily owned us.
Don't be foolish. You are comparing a team that won 3 titles in a row at that point to teams that haven't won a title.
spoken like a true rookie! check your Rockets history before you spit crap about that 94 Team. I hope your Rookie status is PERMANENT. here, read this to save your soul http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=142418
I understand we did well against the Bulls in the season, but that's the season and not the playoffs. Did you know Cleveland beat the Bulls all 6 times in the regular season in 1989 and then lost to them in the playoffs? The Knicks won 3 games out of 4 against the Bulls in the season in 1993 and lost to them in the playoffs. Season means nothing against a great team that has a guy who just doesn't lose with equal or more talent.
Did you watch the NBA Finals this year? Did you see what Paul Pierce did to Kobe? Did you know how we defended Jordan? Do you know this guy named Hakeem ? have you seen him play? I know you didn't read a single thing on the thread I sent you, but that's ok. cause as long as I know that the people who rule this board LOVE THE HOUSTON ROCKETS and consider it an INSULT with this Jordan mess, you ALWAYS BE A ROOKIE. Sorry dude, you may have been in diapers, but we were THERE. WE KNOW. CLUTCH KNOWS.
Mr April 2008 I would stop right there before professor tinman starts to educate you on what was the rockets of the early 90s against jordan's bulls. you brought up those teams but none of them had a superstar who could take his game to the next level like Hakeem did. I really wish the bulls did face the rockets in the finals once during the 90s so this argument could have been put to rest. We probably could have gotten there in 93 if it wasnt for some bad luck at the end of the regular season that came back to hurt us in the playoffs.
you think a rookie with a moniker like tmacsrockets would 1. know anything about what happened at the end of the regular season that year 2. even care about any non-Tmac Rockets team? 3. forget about me, I don't change people's rookie status. Insulting that 1994 Rockets Team, that I know Clutch loves won't help the guy either. And yes that's the biggest insult ANY ROCKET FAN will ever get. Spitting on the Championships is the worst, worse than any Yao or Tmac diss X Infinity.
