Everyone seems eager to trade Francis, so here's a hypothetical...

Which of these 2 situations would you rather have:

    1) Jason Kidd as a Rocket and Francis gone
    or
    2) Shaq as a Rocket and Yao gone

    NEITHER
SHAQ WILL BE RETIRING IN 4 or 5 YEARS and J Kidd is overrated.

Moot...NJ would not do it and the Lakers would not do it. Neither of our guys are close to the level of those players you mention.

Kidd as a Rocket is interesting. Everyone knows that JK and Byron Scott are not getting along well at all. Steve would be a lot closer to home. I think Kidd could really do some things with the Rockets. That would be interesting.

there is an espn column about Jkidd.... Talking about how he is so selfless on the court, but the exact opposite off. He's been traded twice and has openly criticized management. Can you imagine what the cf.net people would do if SF did that?

    Argggh !

I'm not talking about trading anyone. It's not about being possible, about NJ wanting to get rid of Kidd or anything.

I'm asking, what would be the better Rocket team:

    Rockets + Kidd - Francis

    or

    Rockets + Shaq - Yao

Put this way, Rockets + Shaq - Yao, Lakers will get four more rings.

lol...so if we could get our hands on Kobe instead of Shaq then we'd get the 4 rings ?

lol....so are you saying Phil Jackson (9 rings)+LA charm +Payton+Malone+Rick Fox... equals JVG (0 rings)+Houston+SF+Cat+Cato?

Neither. But if forced with a gun to my head, I'd easily prefer Kidd to Shaq. Kidd (like Payton @ 35 and still kicking) will be around a lot longer than Shaq.

I guess its thinking about the long term vs. short term. For the "Win now mentality of the NBA of course Shaq would have way more impact. But Yao and SF are not at the level of Shaq or JKidd at this point in their careers. What is the purpose of this thread?

We could maybe get a JKidd for SF and (unknown) while I dont think the Lakers would part with Shaq unless his contract becomes unmanageable or his play starts to deteriorate. I wouldnt mind picking up GP for a few seasons and let SF play the 2. I know Gary's looking for another payday before he retires but I would be wary of the type of contract he receives since he is closing in on the end of his career.

uh no. Malone and Payton have a year or 2 left in them, so i don't see how the lakers are going to get another 4 rings...there's no such thing as LA charm, and Phil Jackson is no genius. MJ was his lucky star

I'll take Kidd. He will probably be around longer and Yao has a chance to be dominant in this league, Steve does not, IMO.

No LA charm? You know why Shaq ditched Orlando in the first place or why Fox gave up big money to join Lakers or why Lakers got so many calls in games?

BTW, I didn't say PJ is a genius.

I'd take Shaq. The guys stats are down this year but not because his game is dwindling. He's deferring to his teammates. He's in great shape, playing excellent D, and could still drop 30 every night if he wanted to be selfish.

You guys just don't get it, do you? What danjojo really want to say is who is more important to Rox, SF or Yao. So if you want to say anything, go directly to the bloody point.

    :) :) :)

Shaq rules. I will pick Shaq.

But Yao is much more important to Rockets than SF. ;)

Am watching Monday Night Football, and it's at halftime right now. Shaq was being interviewed and was asked about Yao. Shaq seemed very humble and gave Yao a lot of props saying he's a very good player and that he's a good guy. He said he's looking forward to the upcoming matchup and that he hopes a lot of fans will tune in to watch the game. Not really groundbreaking news, but it was nice to hear Yao get props from the most dominant player in the game (Yes he still is most dominant, especially now that he's in shape.) on one of more popular nationally televised shows.
