It's a roll of the dice withany pitcher. Throwing a baseball is one of the most unnatural thing to do to your body in a sport. Anyones arm can go at anytime.
Even if he comes out okay and can pitch, I think this episode with Hernandez's arm goes to show that it is imperative to acquire another starting pitcher.
Carlos has a great arm. A great left arm. And a rotten shoulder. Come back, Carlos, we hardly know ye.
I just read the article. I was coming here to post a thread titled "I Am Officially Giving Up On Carlos Hernandez". what a sad athletic story. what a dominant first month he had. what a fluke first injury. or maybe it wasn't fluke. maybe what we're seeing is that this guy got the short, genetic stick when it came to his left shoulder, and what seemed like a fluke baserunning injury was really just the first exposure we got to his lame left shoulder. I wonder if it's all hereditary, or if he got pitched too much as an adolescent. I'm bummed. I was still hoping for great things from him. I don't see it happening for him now. THIS SUCKS!! great lefthanders are not the easiest thing to come by. I just knew the 'Stros were going to be kicking ass with their rotation of Miller, Oswalt, Hernandez, Saarloos, and Redding or Lidge for years and years and years. this sucks.
I think I will try to "greet" him at Dr. Andrews office in Birmingham. Anyone know when he's going there?
Man. This really stinks. I hope it's not serious. We need him to pitch and we need him bad. Especially if payroll is about to be cut like they said. It makes you wonder about Wagner. I hope Wag's isn't traded, but he's in many ways expendable. how much is Daryle making?
