And so it begins... http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/11/world/asia/north-korea-seismic-disturbance/index.html?c=homepage-t I have to admit I'm a bit disturbed that the Koreans now have a nuke.
if the Norks have a nuke the Iranians effectively have a nuke <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>North Korea explodes 3rd nuclear weapon. And they have a rocket that can reach California. I wish I had a joke here.</p>— Albert Brooks (@AlbertBrooks) <a href="https://twitter.com/AlbertBrooks/status/301181965162393600" data-datetime="2013-02-11T22:12:30+00:00">February 11, 2013</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Wish the people would rebel against their tyrannical government. But they are brainwashed and dumb as rocks!
You can't say they are dumb as rocks when their whole life they have been affected by propaganda. Put them in your situation, and I bet some of them would have done more with their life than you have.
I would devote a huge chunk of the defense budget to psy ops and flood North Korea with subversive speech (same with the Islamists). Hire psychologists and commission artists to come up with stuff. Effective without a huge footprint or resource commitment. We don't do nearly enough to promote Western values abroad. Hearts and minds.
True, honestly its really just the leadership. The whole situation just makes me rage. Obviously some people are going to be more emotionally invested in this than others.
Realistically, no one wants the North Koreans to fall apart now. Not the US, not the South Koreans, not the Chinese. Because when that day comes, it is going to be an incredible pain in the ass to care for 15 million delusional people who don't have any of the skills needed to survive in today's economy.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Here's the reality: Nothing significant will happen as a result of the <a class="hashtag" action="hash" title="#DPRK">#DPRK</a> nuke test. They know this. And Iran is watching.</p>— Stephen Hayes (@stephenfhayes) <a href="https://twitter.com/stephenfhayes/status/301308328385060864" data-datetime="2013-02-12T12:34:38+00:00">February 12, 2013</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Hypothetical, if a nuke was launched near the border of North Korea and China towards the US or it's allies, how much deniability would each country have? North Korea launching in some crazy plan to cause WWIII between China and the US as a way of destroying the US. China launching to gain regional or world power and deflecting the blame on North Korea. I have no idea if our detection system can pinpoint a launch origin.
NK tested a uranium device -- there previous tests were plutonium weapons. They would need a train to deliver the weapon -- they are far from having a device small enough to put on their missile.
So to recap Obama's pussified foreign policy: 1. North Korea successfully gains the nuclear bomb 2. Iran will gain the nuclear bomb if they haven't already 3. The Middle East is now in the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood (who still hate the US) 4. Tragic loss of life continues in Syria due to Obama overruling the CIA, State Dept, et al, because Obama is too afraid of Putin and Russia 5. Iraq forces the US to leave, but Obama tries to take credit for pulling out. Complete failure from Obama.
F them. Starve millions of people to build a 1950's-era test bomb. I'm assuming the "hostile actions" are the increased sanctions we placed on them?
