Steve Jobs has another "major" announcement today at noon central. It seems the big news is being able to download movies via iTunes, something that doesn't appeal to me at all.

You can read about it live here: http://www.gizmodo.com/

He's announcing that Apple is getting out of the computer business to refocus all their attention into making ipods "cool" again with the upcoming release of several new ipod accessories, including:

ichopper: A multipurpose ipod accessory that slices, dices, and chops all your favorite fruits and vegetables with easy cleanup in your dishwasher

iwaxer: Waxes your vehicle in one easy step with no buffing required

ishowtime: The easy to use oven/roaster that cooks all your favorite meats in half the time of your regular oven. Set it and forget it!

ivibe: A five speed vibrating self pleasure device for men and women

Also, Apple is officially changing their name to Ipple...

iTunes is down for the upgrade to iTunes 7. They're adding a movie store. I think it'll be 20 dollars for the right to play a movie on your computer and your ipod. I'll just take a DVD, thanks.

20 bucks?? Man, I have an iPod video, but no way I'd pay that to see a flick, even if I were taking a long flight or something. Hope they're cheaper than that.

20 dollars a movie? What's the point in that? DVDs are cheaper and you don't have to worry about losing them if your computer crashes.

[UPDATE] At San Francisco event, Steve Jobs announces a new line of iPod Nanos, an updated iTunes with free album cover art, and, as expected, the addition of downloadable movies.

At a media event in San Francisco today, Apple delivered on its teaser, "It's Showtime," by adding movies to its download store, unveiling a new colorful and cheaper line of iPod Nanos, and updating its iTunes software.

Apple chief Steve Jobs said today that the iTunes Music Store will now sell movies from Disney and its subsidiary studios Pixar, Touchstone, and Miramax. The inclusion of Disney in the movie launch was anticipated, as Disney's January 24 acquisition of Pixar gave Jobs a seat on the Disney board of directors.

iTunes launches its movie store with 75 films, including The Incredibles, Toy Story, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Most movie titles will sell for $9.99 apiece, with new releases available for preorder for $12.99 and going up to $14.99 after that.

Apple also expanded its line of iPod Nano portable media players today, adding models in five new colors, upping storage capacity to 8GB, and lowering its prices across the board. The company also announced iTunes 7, an update of its music store and media management software that added more ways to view media and free album cover art.

At the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Apple chief Steve Jobs rolled out iPod Nanos in green, silver, blue, black, and pink for the 4GB Nano.

The company also said that it was adding an 8GB Nano, addressing the recent launch of an 8GB flash player from rival SanDisk. The 8GB Nano comes in black only.

Apple also lowered the prices for its Nano lines, further addressing efforts made by SanDisk in recenmt weeks to undercut the iPod on pricing. Apple lowered the cost of its 2GB Nano to $149 from $199 and its 4GB Nano to $199 from $249. The cost of the new 8GB Nano is $249.

I think it's just used to send the signal to the TV, you use your computer for storage and it sends the info to iTV via wifi or ethernet.

    Political correctness reaches new low

    AP - Washington

The big announcement at Apple today was really that the Apple Growers of Washington are suing the computer company for copyright infringement. Apple will have to drop the "apple" icon, unless they want to package the computers in used produce crates. And seeing howing tough and well constructed the computers are touting themselves, this should be the route the company takes.

In a related story, all Windows based pc's will now come with mini-blinds and optional drapes in order to not offend the glass window industry and it's many workers worldwide.

In yet another related story, Sesame Street is suing Apple for the flagrant use of the letter "i" citing that they've used the letter "i" and the number "9" to sponsor their programs for years. More details as they arise.
