to look for new friends with cable. With this portion of a story about Marv Albert's 6 year deal with TNT, it also states,As part of the agreement, Albert will call the NBA All-Star Game on TNT, which airs for the first time ever on cable in February 2003. The agreement calls for Albert to work exclusively for TNT on national NBA telecasts................................TNT will televise 52 regular season games in the new NBA television agreement -- 48 of which will air as part of Thursday night doubleheaders in primetime -- on an exclusive basis, with no games being televised nationally or regionally that night except for one backup game. TNT will also air approximately 45 games in the first two rounds of the playoffs, and the network will air exclusively all of the conference semi-finals and one conference finals series. In addition, the agreement explores the creation of a new channel, All Sports Network (ASN). Guys, if you don't have cable or don't intend on getting it, start looking for some new friends with cable. It looks like a long and uphill battle the league is trying to implement with the fan's of the game but wwe'll see how thigns go. Only the major city markets will get the games and those living in small towns will have to travel some far distances to find a game that's on TNT. We know that everyone gets NBC. Oh well.
Can you say DirecTv? You can get the basic $39 option and add the league pass and watch hoops till you're tired of watching hoops.

Wait a minute -- so if the Rockets play on a Thursday and they aren't on TNT, they are no longer on TV?! That's ridiculous!
I think League pass is an added $120.00 dollars. Because that's what I usually pay on Digitial cable. ANd all basketball on cable TV is costing me big time. bearly 40 dollars per month for the cable, plus an added 40 dollars a month for OCT/NOV/DEC when they usually bill you. Get rid of primetime tv on NBC like Friends and Spy Tv and throw in Basketball nightly. That'll be easier on my life.

what, no more "Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday!" commercials with Vlade, Chrissy Webber, and the folk? Just Thursdays?
ESPN/ESPN2 will have games on Wednesday and Friday. TNT will have exclusive rights of Thursdays. So instead of the NBA being on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, it will be on Wed/Thur/Fri. Also ABC will carrry a single game on Sunday afternoons beginning in January or early February. ABC will carry a max of 15 regular games, down more than half of what NBC was carrying (approx 33 games including the all star game). Also David Stern has diminshed the NBA playoffs down to the level of the NHL playoffs. Usually the importance of one's postseason depends on the time it devotes to broadcast television. The NBA will provide 12 playoff games while the NHL provides 10 games all on ABC. The rest of the games will be on cable. Contrast that with playoff coverage of the NBA's main rivals (NFL and MLB) the NBA already dwarfs in comparison. It's time to admit that the NBA is in a product of decline.
It's too bad the NBA is declining. I wonder where it went wrong? The ratings were pretty darn good in MJ's days... when he retired it all went down hill. He came back, and it seems the ratings are getting even worse, lol.
