As of today (2/14), New Orleans/Oklahoma City is 1 game back of the 8th spot in the western conference, and have a legit shot at making the playoffs this season. Yahoo! Standings

I know that the bottom of the west's playoff race doesn't exactly have quality teams (ie Minnesota, Golden State, disappointing Clippers) but i've got to give it up to the Hornets for staying in this race. The Hornets have had an incredible injury-plagued season, with these injuries happening to their best players.

Stojakovic, CP3, david west, bobby jackson, at one point were all hurt at the same time, and these players missed substantial amount of time.

i don't like the hornets because they beat us twice this year, and i'm not going to give them pity for playing injured because the rockets lose more valuable players every season. but if they make the playoffs, b.scott and the hornets deserve some props.

do you guys remember tim who used to work for the rockets and then went to the hornets organization? anyone know if he still works there or moved on?

Honestly, I don't even know if it's worth it to have the 8th or 7th seed in the West this year.

Call me crazy, but I think Golden State has the best shot to beat the Dirkendouche and the Mav Overlords. The only two teams that can beat Dallas without running and gunning with them are Houston and San Antonio, so the only way for somebody to take out the Mavs in the first round will be to outscore them, and GS is the only team that has the firepower to do it.

Remember the 1994 Denver Nuggets. Maybe there is a Robert Pack on the Hornets, Wolves or Clippers that will play out of his mind in the first round.

You are probably right though. May as well gives the Mavs and Suns a bye.
