The quotes below makes me like Noah and Boozer a lot more. And by the way, even though it's fun to call Boozer "The Great Betrayer" and to view him as the ultimate evil since he starred on the Jazz, he always struck me as a pretty smart and decent guy when interviewed. He's also (as far as I know) pals with Battier so he can't be that evil. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bulls/post/_/id/1484/noah-looks-forward-to-competing-vs-miami
1) who wanted to play with carlos boozer among the big free agents? NOBODY. if lebron or wade publicly said i want to play with boozer, you don't think boozer would have done the same? it was a man's decision by bosh to sacrifice a ton of money and play on a team where he might not be even the 2nd option (he can be first option on many teams). that's a man's decision that you don't see a lot in the NBA anymore. i respect both lebron AND bosh for doing what other people think is wrong. they did what they both wanted to do.
I used to like how Noah would stand up to the NBA's most sacred stars. It was cool. Now its getting annoying.
Boozer trying to recruit Lebron.... Boozer: Hey Lebron! I would like for you to come to Chicago. I think we'd be great together and bring back a dynasty to this city. Lebron: You're kidding right... Boozer: Oh, the whole "I ask Cavs to not activate the last year of my restricted contract so I can re-sign with them with a new better contract, instead I ditch for the jazzholes" was blown out of proportions. I'm wayyyy over that now. You should be too. Lebron: F*** YOU!
Bosh didn't sacrifice anything. He was moved in a sign and trade. Yes, he took slightly less money but the state tax in Florida even it out against the Canadian tax rate.
Just because Battier knows him, doesn't mean Boozer isn't evil. He can't defend but Sloan has trained him to do wrong. He cheated on the Cavs, and he would have done the same to anyone,if he had the chance. The only reason he isn't in Utah is because he couldn't get the job done. Bosh is softer than Boozer, but Carlos isn't a "man". Pippen did great interviews, but after Chicago,he was finished.
Noah is too smart to be so inarticulate. I mean really, does anybody think that Noah cared about Bosh's decisiveness (or lack thereof)? I sure don't. Rather, my bet is that Noah was talking with the other side of his mouth, you know, the side opposite the one that's probably told anbody who would listed that Boozer is a real man because signed with the Bulls without giving a damn where Lebron and Wade were going to sign, even though Boozer and everybody else (Noah included) knows that the Heat will be hard to beat with Wade, Lebron and Bosh.
Throw SPOT a bone -- he sacrificed being a pseudo-alpha dog to be the gamma dog under the Miami spotlight.
and still hoping to get money and rings as return. Everyone would be able to make this kind of cheap and ludicrous sacrifice.
Boozer's a very cunning athlete. He wasn't going to play the Diva game and get burned. He locked onto his target and moved fast.
That's not true. He could have gotten a full max deal and he didn't. He could have come to Houston and gotten a full max deal and the tax break, but he chose not to. Lets not act like he didn't take less simply because we aren't impressed since he is still making millions. They all took less $$.
it's not the same situation.....boozer wasnt a package deal, so he couldnt afford to consider a bad team, he went to the team that had space with the most talent. Bosh pretty much knew he'd play with at least wade, so they could go anywhere and wait for other FAs to come to them and build a competitive team.
Yes, we should all take off our Rockets goggles and realize that Boozer is a very capable power forward. Him going to the Bulls doesn't help the Rockets since the Bulls are capable of making it out of the East (which is really easy if you think about it, just need a freak game or two against the Heats)
I don't understand why it's a bad thing that these guys wanted to play together. Was Chicago supposed to be the most important thing to free agents??? If you're looking into switching jobs, you're going to take into consideration multiple aspects of each potential opportunity. Salary, role, location, work environment, company stature. The notion that Bosh shouldn't care about who his teammates will be is idiotic. He decided that both playing in a major market and with at least one top-5 player were his priorities. Great for him that he got what he wanted. Noah needs to get the sand out of his underwear.
