Does it not disturb anyone else that we picked up a retread coach and started negotiationg with him before we fired our old coach, and, by the way, THAT WE DIDN'T LOOK AT ANY OTHER ****ING COACHING CANDIDATES?!

    WTF!?

    That is insane!

I think Les is enamored with the up-tempo offense while we don't have the personnel to pull it off.

Bingo!!!! unless they have some MAJOR changes on the roster this summer the Rockets will look so confused on the court... As much as I love YAO how can he flourish in a up-tempo style of basketball?

Who is saying that we have hired anyone yet? I fully expect a coaching search now.......

They have only interviewed Adelman but they didn't hire him.

Because we don't have steve nash. Suns will not be the current suns without nash.

What list of candidates? I'm not enthralled with Adelman in the least, but there's very little in the cupboard. Iavaroni is the only real hot coaching prospect that I can think of, but his style doesn't fit our roster and I'm fairly certain that his next stop is Toronto.

Rick Carlisle and Larry Brown are of the same mold as JVG, and rarely do you see a team fire a coach in order to bring in a similar successor.

IMO, we're chasing the best available candidate (for what that's worth) as soon as possible. I doubt a better one will surface.

Avery Johnson proved that a team can still win without just defaulting to the "best" unemployed coach available. I think we deserve more than just another old discarded coach.

I think CD had already made up his mind before like if JVG doesn't make it to the 2nd round then I'll take Adelman within 2 weeks.

Brad Miller and Kevin Duckworth were hardly fleet of foot. Nor was Vlade Divac.

There aren't many systems in the NBA other than Nellie and D'Antoni's where fast centers are a requirement.

he has a good point though. nothing is set in stone yet.

sure it looks as if adleman was the guy les wanted all along. after talking to him he fires JVG. looks like there is a deal coming but it hasn't happened yet.

i also doubt that there will be a serious coaching search.

les will not hire an inexperienced coach. he will not hire an average coach or worse. the list of available coaches with playoff experience and a history of success is slim to none right now.

no thank you to larry brown, rick carlisle, sam mitchell, paul silas, or an inexperienced marc iavaroni.

rick adleman is second only to phil jackson when meeting the criteria which les has set.

Look this is a misnomer. (not with Les but the fact that we can't pull it off)

The Kings had Vlade freaking Divac as their center. The guy's footspeed is a slight notch above Yao's. They only ran the superspeed offense when Jason Williams was point guard.

Once Bibby came in, they started running the princeton and slowed it down some. They scored lots of points on dynamite execution and precision. The Suns are fast for two reasons. 1) Because they push the ball quickly and get a shot off fast and 2) because Steve Nash surgically obliterates defenses by picking them apart.

The latter reason also applied to Sacramento's princeton offense. They just tore teams apart with execution and passing. Houston certainly can do that because we won't rely on a predictable Iso play every time we come down the court. Yao isolation plays take forever because Yao is just slow at setting up, reposting, etc..

Adelman's motion offense would speed things up. Also, he ran a lot of different things. He ran the princeton, some triangle offense plays, some iso, etc.. He's the opposite of Van Gundy in that regard. He throws out lots of different varieties and adapts very well to his personel.

Also, the Adelman can't coach defense thing is bull**** as well. Some of those Sacramento teams ranked in the top 5 in defensive efficiency year in and year out.

    More disturbing thing is:

Why not give a reason for dismissing JVG, who was almost the coach of the year?

Any sounding basketball reason? what's the direction this team is going?
Why Adelman should be better at such such areas than JVG......

man, I am starting to think Rockets management is classless and clueless,...
    no respect to the fans.

Of course, it's not "official" yet, but when you fire your current coach AFTER you start negotiating a contract with another guy, I would say the stone is about to be set. :)

I think Les made up his mind when the Warriors upset the Mavs. And honestly, he could have done a lot worse. He could have done a lot better, but he could have done a lot worse.
