This season is quickly winding down. Pretty soon, it won't even make a difference if they make a trade or not. Waiting until the deadline is out of the question because it won't matter. They will be too far under .500 to make it. With so many back to backs coming up, something needs to be done immediately because the schedule doesn't let up. I hope Morey isn't still waiting on that Melo foolishness because little does he know, Melo is not coming to Houston. Personally, i don't think Melo will be traded anyway.
We all know that Morey has other deals on the table. Lets just hope he can one of them done before it's too late.
The only thing that will save this season is a high draft pick. Getting blown out in the first round is fool's gold.
Morey has pretty much sacrificed this season in an effort to acquire a star and/or best possible deal with our assets. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried that we might be going through this for a good while longer until he finds the missing piece(s).
It takes 2 to tango. If New orleans would trade Paul for Hill, Brooks and a 1st round pick I am sure Morey would have pulled the trigger long ago. Unfortunately most teams don't won't to give up their stars for the crap we have to offer. It is not too late if we really improve from a trade. We have had the toughest schedule before the all star break. In turn we will have one of the easiest after. We can make up a lot ground if we get back some key pieces to help. But it is too late if we get back players that don't work. I would rather Morey wait to see if the right piece becomes available then to just take on a player for the sake of trading. If we can not get back an upgrade player or a young potential future star than I just as soon get a lottery pick.
I am glad that Morey is not out there talking about trades etc, I think he needs to muzzle that stuff and just do his job and get this unbalanced roster more balanced. DD
Remember the injury exception for Yao expires on Jan31st. I cant see Morey simply allowing it to expire. Odds are something happens between now and then , the question is what.
The rox look like they are stuck in limbo as a below avg. team for several years. It is a rather depressing fact.
If Morey would settle for draft picks and expiring contracts, he'd get his share of dance partners, you can be sure of that.
As of now, We have easier schedule compared to Portland rest of the way. I canceled out similar games of both teams such if both play Sacramento at home, i took out both. I only kept games that were different. Portland home games: Chicago, NO, LAL, Houston, Cleveland, Was, OKC, LaL. (winning % 54.3) Houston home games: Sacramento, Clippers, Minnesotta, NJ, Indiana, PHX, Utah, clippers. (winning % 37.7) Portland away games: Indiana, Toronto, Orlando, Charlotte, Atlanta, OKC, GS. (Winning % 49.1) Houston away games: Dallas, Portland, Clippers, PHX, NJ, PHI, NO. (Winning % 49)
Couple things here: 1. There was no news or indication Kevin Martin was going to be heading to Houston or even available for trade. I actually recall the opposite. 2. Your thread points to the idea that no news Is bad news for this season. Listen up, a first round knock out doesn't keep fans any happier than a mediocre lotto pick. So to imply a move must be Hurried and made for the sake of this season is ridiculous. This season was out the window when Hayes became our starting center again. I'd rather wait for a team who is looking to catch their window of opportunity in the playoffs (which we do not have) to make a trade. Why do something brash for a mediocre result?
This has been a deflating season. Nothing went as planned and Yao went down before he could show us what he's got left in the tank. At this point, I am not expecting any news. There is no player out there who could change the course of this franchise. We are going to be in rebuilding mode for a while.
We need threads for "nothing to report until there is something to report" now? I also would like to report that I have nothing to say!
