Mutombo saying he has no offer from the Rockets... Is Morey looking at other type of center? Let's see some centers with no minutes in his teams and a low salary; available centers giving in exchange a Luther Head:

    - Robert Swift
    - Adonal Foyle
    - Mouhamed Sene
    - Brian Skinner
    - Theo Ratliff
    - Francisco Elson
    - Patrick O'Bryant
    - Cedric Simmons
    - Jake Voskuhl
    - Calvin Booth

It's clear we need some -defensive- RESPECT above the zone, with Scola-Landry-Yao I think it's not enough against top teams. I would trade for Elson in a heartbeat, for example, he's not playing anything.

    Foyle? Simmons? Another ideas?

Morey needs to create a center out of thin air, preferably from somewhere in Argentina or Europe.

I guess if we have to bring in someone it should be Francisco Elson. I think he's the best player on the list.

Why would these teams trade a big (centers above) for a small (luther Head)? That's one of the trade no no's in the league. You'd have to add some kind of sweetener esp. with the way Head's been playing lately. If you do that then the trade's not worth it anymore. My guess is Mutombo's situation is just like Carl Landry's during the offseason. Morey will probably make another move that will surprise the hell out of us, and we'll magically have the space to sign Deke during the latter part of the season. In Morey we trust :D

none of those guys, including deke, could steal minutes from chuck right now. chuck's defense has been awesome this year. sure the rockets need size, but they need production with that size.

We need some size in the middle, desperately.

    - Robert Swift - no thanks (Seattle drafted a bunch of lottery scrubs)
    - Adonal Foyle - possible
    - Mouhamed Sene better than swift imo (huge wingspan)
    - Brian Skinner (journey man center, 6'9, cool goatee, still undersized?)
    - Theo Ratliff ( yes)
    - Francisco Elson (yes)
    - Patrick O'Bryant (not sure, haven't seen enough)
    - Cedric Simmons (?)
    - Jake Voskuhl (skinner-lite)
    - Calvin Booth (possible)

im thinking about justin williams. he played great against the rox last year. i believe he's still a f.a.

we do need a big. help out big fella with 10 + min rest a game. hopefully deke. if not elson, ratliff, than one of morey emphatic trades.

Isn't this not Morey's decision to make?

It's Les' decision. He's the one who has to pay the Luxury Tax.

He's being cheap, and it will hurt us in the long run.

10 minutes of Deke a game would be fantastic and he would be able to clog the lane on defense.

    Worth the extra money, IMO

Yes. Even though we can win without him like we saw today, Yao had 37+ minutes. Uh oh!

Les' decision, yes. Cheap, no. Les has proven he's willing to spend big time if it means getting superstar players and is willing to sacrifice if it does not pan out the way it was envisioned. If Les made as much money as Cuban, Paul Allen, James Dolan, I would say he was cheap for not willing to pay for Deke's vet min contract/luxury tax penalty. However, Les is the 29th or 30th richest owner in the league. I can understand his reservations with spending money especially if it's for a player that might not be able to get us "over the top". And I'm sure he's getting input from Morey, telling him that Deke is not the final piece to the puzzle.

I want Deke back, but unless we trade Head or Francis, it's not going to happen.

Man...no one on that list that I'd rather have over Deke. We've got to bring Cookie back for one more season, man!

Sean Williams with New Jersey should be our choice. Let's take a chance on a hometown kid. We gave Gerald Green a shot. This can't hurt, too many veterans to keep him in check

This is the best option if Deke is unavailable. Williams should be the long term backup for Yao as well. Not only can he play PF as well, he has a huge wingspan, great athlete, great shot blocker, good rebounder, and good finisher. He's currently riding the bench and was even inactive for a couple of games for NJ. Poster W22_Streak has Luther Head for Sean Williams in his signature and I couldn't agree more.

Robert Horry should be our back up center. I think he played the 5 in college tho I could be wrong. I think he could fill that roll for this team and maybe a lil time next to Yao to spread the floor when needed.

My prediction: we don't get any other center all season and just play small.
