Since the tradgedy of Mo Taylor season ending achilles injury, we are in need of a starting forward. While we could stay in the team and bump KT up, but I'm not sure thats the thing to do. Who would you bring in??? I don't like this idea, but i believe Chris Gatling is avalible. Any other ideas???
Anthony Mason- available through sign and trade because he will be asking for too much, since he had an all-star performance last season
I think CD might reconsider his earlier (publicly stated) position on Jackson. I think we'll be able to do a deal, IF we can get an exception. He is a natural PF, anyway...
Mr. treeman, I am a junior member, so I don't know much how Houston management decides. I would like to ask your opinion on RocPaint325's optimistic prediction that the Rockets will sign Marc Jackson. What are the realistic chances of Mr. Rudy Tomjanovich or Mr. Carroll Dawson taking interest in Golden State's Marc Jackson? 15% ? 20%?
treeman: who fined you a hundred or so posts? BTW, I think Marc Jackson would be a great pickup. Now we DO have a roster space. Can we find the money?
Marc Jackson would be a good pickup for the Rockets. The only problem will be that the Rockets will have to overpay in order to obtain him. He is eligable for roughly the same type of contract in Golden State that Booth got in Seattle. Do the Rockets really want another overpaid player on their roster?
Could we sign Marc Jackson to a yr. long contract ? We did it once with Mo, why not test the goods, and if it don't work out you don't have long contract to deal with
If I were Marc Jackson, I wouldn't be happy with a 1-year deal from the Rockets. In that case, he'd replace Mo for a year and then be out of a job again when Mo returns. GS might match $3.25 and they might not. We'd be doing Jackson a favor anyway by making an offer that GS has to match. If they do match it, they'll be a bit heavy in the frontcourt and maybe we could make a trade. I don't see a problem with overpaying unless the Rockets are hoping for cap space next summer. If they are, they should sign a scrub. If they're not though, this $3.25 is free money. A year from now, we can have Mo and Mo's replacement. I don't see why they'd not use the exception if they got it, like CD was suggesting.
I was happy to hear and read CD's stance on the matter. By my interpretation, they feel pretty comfortable with the players they have, and if anything will be looking to "catch lightning in a bottle" a la Moochie Norris, i.e. take a chance on a young, cheap, hungry player and hope he exceeds expectations. True, Mason and Jackson would\could be nice additions, but do they really fit in their long-term plans. The Rocks seem much more concerned with developing Eddie than bringing in another player who could take minutes away from Eddie. Very good idea, IMHO.
Gary Trent....NOOOOOOO! Operative words: when healthy Trent makes Cato look like Cal Ripken re. durability and staying off the IR! ...and even when he finally got healthy here in Dallas, he never got any PT; he has missed so many games that last couple of season his skills seriously deteriorated.
Would Jackson sign a one year deal for injury exception money (assuming that the Rocks get it)? Would GS have less problems matching a one year deal to keep Jackson? Jackson would be a perfect stop gap 4/5 for next season, since it is long odds that both Cato and Collier will be healthy for an entire season.
