I haven't received any annoying soliciting calls in the past couple of months that I can think of. Have the rest of you that signed up for it noticed any difference?
At first, it seemed I was getting more calls than ever, especially since I have 3 lines at home. But it seemed to settle down in the past month or so. Now, the only calls I get are from people I actually do business with. I just threaten to stop doing business with them unless they stop harassing me with "new and exciting offers". Problem solved. Im really glad it has been better. I am sure some of you can sympathize with me when I say that getting calls after 7pm when a baby is trying to sleep really makes my blood boil.
I have not gotten a soliciting phone call in over 8 months. Not one, even from someone I do business with.
Can you still sign up or not. I get sick of my roommate getting calls asking to refinance her mortgage when none of us even owns the damn house we're living in and I hate MCI calling to tell me that we don't make that many long distance phone calls and should sign up with them, hell we don't make ANY LDPCs so why should we? Idiots!
I signed up over a year ago and went from getting 7 or 8 calls a day to NO calls. I used to check my caller ID after getting home from work and see 12 "out of area" calls. Not anymore. When the year was up, I started getting them again, so I just signed up again. Presto, no calls at all. It works.
Wow, I just remembered that I had signed up on an online form that somebody on the BBS posted. No wonder I haven't been getting any more calls. If sure is nice!
I'm on the No Call List. Question: Does this affect out-of-country solicitors? I ask, because three weeks ago, I kept getting calls everyday from someone in Manitoba, Canada (as it showed up on caller ID). After about a week and a half of calling, they finally stopped. Can I expect more of this in the future (i.e. calls from Canucks working as outsourced telemarketers), or is that illegal as well? During that period, my wife would always joke, "Did Manitoba call yet? I'm worried about them."
I concur...my phone used to ring constantly with solicitation calls and I have not had any at all since the no-call list. Now, if regular personal callers could only call the right number for people their looking for, then that would be excellent. But, I know that's never going to happen and there will always be some dumb*** who calls looking for so-and-so cause they either can't dial or figure out a phone number correctly.
