so no artest and wafer,n theres no yao
there s no one on the team that can create their own shot...besides AB, but we cant really rely on a 6 footer for 82 games and AB cearly doesnt control the tempo well enough
scola cant really be our goto guy, bc hes not a consistant scorer...
so who can be our scorer or shot creator, is morey trade out some of our assets like SB or landry, or is he just gona be young guys and put bets on them for the future?
    what bout 2010??
what bout the little skip to ma luo? :D

yea rite, what makes u think that a guy whos a less athletic, more of a jump shooter version of Wafer can score more than 10pts a game

No doubts that he can - but we definitely need another scorer.

I predict Scola will be about a 16-9 guy next season (he already gets the rebounds - and the shots will be available!)

Brooks will probably slide on up to around 15ppg.

But we're going to need a heavy scorer to come on board if our offense is going to be threatening in any way.

If we start the season with:
    Brooks/ Ariza/ Battier/ Scola/ Landry
as the lineup, we'll struggle to score enough points to win a game, and will also be seriously undersized in the middle.

I DO think the talk from Morey pre-draft, post-draft and in free agency has been about running. So I suspect we'll be uptempo and run - my guess is that Battier is moved for a big guy - who I have no clue...

If he can't find a lucrative deal elsewhere this summer, I could actuall envision a scenario where Von Wafer re-signs with the Rockets on a one-year, league minimum contract. In 2010, the Rockets will have Early Bird rights on Wafer and can re-sign him to a contract up to the MLE in value, but it won't count against the actual MLE. Plus, if the Rockets wait to re-sign him in 2010 until late in the summer, his "cap hold" will be miniscule (~$1.2M).

Now let's just hope that no other teams offer Wafer anything more than the minimum.

I'm a little foggy on the end of the season, but Ron Ron looked like he was declining towards the end of the season. He seemed a step slow for some reason. I don't think he was much of an offensive powerhouse. Even if we had him next season, I don't think he can be the primary option on any team. As for offense, Scola is crafty and can give you points. Everyone saw what Adelman did in the playoffs, adjusting on the fly. Let's give him a season with a young, hopefully injury and roster changing free team. Its going to be a very entertaining team next season.

we can hope all we want, there will be a team willing to offer 100K over the minimum just to screw us.

We need to cut the crap and get on the same page with Wafer. Trading Artest/Wafer for Ariza and a bunch of 2nd round picks is not the way to go.

I think there's way too much faith in Jermaine Taylor right now, that he can play like Von Wafer did last year with no NBA experience...

IMO Morey has bigger plans then trying to resign Wafer. Everything is not going to happen tonight all at once.

If the season started today, our number one option would be Brooks, not Scola.

Brooks will have the ball in his hands and can get passed his man at will. He needs to learn how to creat of the dribble or drive to get Scola, Landry and Ariza involved.

While this team won't be notching up many wins, they will be enjoyable to watch. Hopefully this is enough to sell tickets until tmac and yao comeback.

NOW, if we do end up trading t-mac, hpoefully we have a more proven scorer.

Get on the same page? The page is that we just spent our MLE and don't have any money to sign Wafer. We spent our LLE last year for Barry and that exception isn't available two years in a row. So unless he takes the minimum, he's going to another team.

His future with the Rox was probably done when he got sent back to the locker room during the playoffs.

Ron was a crap offensive player. A black hole who got his points only because he was a volume shooter. He was TMAC with a worse jumpshot and less driving ability. If Artest not being here means Scola and AB have to step up and be the ones willing to shoot, I'm more than OK with that. Ron brought some good things to the team. His offense wasn't one of them.

    true

if a guy who was given a chance, supposedly should have been on his best behavior because he was working for his first legit contract in the NBA couldnt keep his cool with the coach during a critical playoff game of all times

then coach says it wasnt the first time it has happened

then what makes you think he would be perfect as soon as he got his guaranteed money?

wafer was as good as gone, he was a necessity last season with the additions of White and Taylor, wafer has spent his last days in Houston as a Rocket imo
