The end of this article bothers me..matter of fact, Yao's non-aggressive attitude is starting to bother me.. He spends three days at the All-Star game his entire country watching ..and what was his favorite thing?..not trying to get show skills, not showing he is an all-star..but being in his room.. you think Kobe was that way in his first All-Star game? I just think he may not enjoy the game very much he seems lazy in that respect.. This drive I am looking for is what took MJ and Kobe and many others to greatness.. I am not seeing that in Ming..he is just happy with where he is.. I want to see that competitive fire..saying "I belong here..you can't stop me" hopefully, that will come ..but I think you either have that or you don't ..my gut says he doesn't!
Well, Yao is new to this country. He is East meets west, I can understand why he wasn't calling for the ball. Hes just not very assertive enough, just like hes not getting the ball right now. I don't doubt his desire to win but his assertiveness, I do doubt.
Don't worry about that. It's alwasy easier to learn bad habits I think Yao Ming will be hungry like Mike after he fails to advance in the playoffs. I think what the article conveyed is what we already know, that is, Yao Ming doesn't like to show for the sake of a show. He is having fun. But when push comes to shove, he is as competetive as anyone. I remember reading many articles in his final years in the CBA. He WAS very competetive and wanted to win that championship badly. Imagine when an "old" Shaq kicks his rear consistently in the eyes of hundred millions. Let's see.
Yao seemed to be in awe, trying to soak in the moment when he first was introduced during the starting lineups. Its a thing called respect for his fellow teammates .He's just a rookie and its just an allstar game. You want him to hog the ball like Kobe? He's never been the showboat type of player you want him to be.
I think Yao's just trying to be cute. I doubt his favorite time really *was* hanging out in the room... this was an amazing opportunity to participate in something totally new for him. Remember, he flew his parents out to Atlanta for a reason, and it wasn't just so they all could stay in the room together. He wasn't trying to give a straight answer to a question that's pretty impossible to do justice to: your "favorite" thing to do.
Trying to be cute? Nope. Don't think so. No need to. You would understand if you ever had an exhausting schedule like his for 2 years. If there is a way to chase all the reporters away politely, Yao would certainly do so.
See if I understand it correctly. The Chinese are liars. So, Yao Ming lies to the media. Could you please elaborate?
That I can agree with. However, it still took me a while to get used to it And there may be retributions by doing that
I guess you want Yao to wave off a pick from a teammate and go one-on-one with MJ so that he could show his "drive"?
did any of u guys actually even watch the game?? yao had like 5-6 turnovers. almost everytime they tried to pass him the ball it would slip out of his hands...can u say butter fingers??!!
Though I am not worried about that (since we cannot judge everything from his rookie - not getting to high or low) but I must remind you that people accused Duncan of being soft. Let me ask you this now mister, would you want Duncan on your Team? Even our beloved Dream was a bit like that (as in "reserved" and gentle) but he is still considered an all time great. The key is winning - when you win, everybody or most critics/"experts hush up.
Yea, he sucked pretty loud at the all-star game. So, what's your point? BTW, what's the title of your next movie? Don't you think Yao Ming's butter fingers shoot more straight than you shoot your movie guns
Yao is the Champion! Be it in CBA or NBA, leading a team to win the title is no easy task. before Yao, nobody was able to knock the Army team off their seat for many generations. It is Yao who brought the championship to Shanghai Sharks! he has the heart of a champion. who else can you say so in the rockets?
