Any Murano owners out there? I know some people think that they are ugly (my wife), but I really like the way they look and I think that I'm going to get one in the next few weeks. I'd like to hear from anyone that has had experience with them. I'm looking to spend $13k-$16k so probably a 2004 or 2005 model. I've been watching ebay motors so that I have a larger selection as I'm willing to go and pick it up if I can get a good deal. I'm kind of wary to buy something sight unseen though. I would be buying cash from a dealer so I'm hoping that if I buy from a respectable dealer that would minimize my chances of getting screwed. Has anyone bought cars off of ebay? Thanks
I LOVE my Murano. Mine is an 08. Smoothest engines anyone makes, those CVT engines, in fact that Murano contains the same engine as the Z. Don't expect good mileage though, you would be doing really well to get 20mpg. That is the only thing I don't like about it. You could do a heck of a lot worse. Enjoy!
I really like the way the Murano looks. I drive a Subaru Impreza Outback, which I love, and the Murano looks like a sleaker version of that. But, "lucky to get 20 mpg". Ouch.
Wife considered it. It's one of the more attractive of the "not enormous" SUVs or crossovers or whatever it is considered. I do know one person who had endless problems with it, but that one might have been a lemon.
In my car buying thread I started several weeks ago I stated that I liked the Murano and was considering it as a possible vehicle choice. There were a few people in there, I believe, that voiced their opinion against it. Maybe they'll chime in here as well.
A friend of mine and his wife have one. We have taken it to a few football tailgates, and it rides nicely. It doesn't have a lot of cargo space, but I'm not sure if that is what you're looking for.
ditto on pretty much everything he said. i had an 05 murano. i loved it. smoothest ride but i averaged about 17-18 mpg.
I just got back from driving an 04 and an 05. Both had leather and all the features. One had navigation which was nice, but listed $3000 more. I'm definitely sold. I came and picked up my wife and she even said that she liked the way it looked. Now it's just a matter of getting a good deal. I think the one that I want of the two that I drove is 2004 SE. Leather, power everything, memory seat, etc. No navigation though. They're asking 16995. It's KBB value retail is 20670. I autochecked it and they showed me the carfox and it's been one owner and they traded it in there to that dealership (Lexus in Austin). If I make an offer today, what would be a fair offer? Is $15k too low?
LOL @ Carfox. Funny commercial. As far as making an offer goes there's no such thing as an offer too low.... especially in times like these. What's the worst that can happen?
Although I've never thought they look really good, the '04-'05 Muranos look ok, but I think the more recent ones have been uglified. I've read good things about them in terms of reliability, but as others have stated, the mileage is horrible. Outside of that, I really don't follow SUVs/crossovers/whateverthey'recallingthemthisyear. You may want to go to Carmax.com and see what they're offering similar models with similar mileage for.
Wasn't Nissan Murano one of those three witches in that show with that gal from 90210 and the other one who hung out with Marilyn Manson?
Agreed. I like the look of the Murano but after test driving an Altima 3.5 SE with the CVT transmission I don't think I could own a car with it whether it be a SUV, Crossover or Sedan.
Why do you say that about a CVT? What, you miss that *jerk* motion every time a regular transmission changes gears? The acceleration in a Murano with CVT is sharp and quick, there is no shifting between gears, so you can drink your soda, your wife can put on her makeup, and your kids can do whatever in the backseat without having to worry about spilling. What's not to like?
