    With their Kobe/Lebron puppet commercials
totally disrespecting the other teams in the playoffs, not even giving them a chance - basically saying your games are a waste of time
what does karma give them? millions of dollars in wasted advertising that also makes them look stupid

    Go adidas (dwight howard)

That'd be ignorant though because Farmar is Adidas too.

Well Nike couldn't really market any of the other superstars in the conference finals even if they wanted seeing as how they weren't Nike. Dwight is Addidas and Carmelo is Team Jordan which I guess is Nike but its really almost a brand of its own...

Adidas needs to come out with a Dwight puppet. It must be done.

Reminds me the Dan vs Dave commercials of 91-92. One of them didn't even advance to the olympics.

I actually liked those commercials. Though the last couple ones haven't been as funny, but I hope they expand on the concept.

    so given the choice between:

    1. marketing the two biggest stars for their basketball brand or
    2. not doing any marketing at all just in case they don't make the finals or
    3. marketing people who aren't part of their brand

you think nike should have gone with 2 or 3?

lol, is nike supposed to be an impartial observer of the basketball/sporting universe? or maybe a promoter of their brand?

Fair points...but then maybe it would have been a wise choice to market Kobe and LeBron in separate ads. That's where they went wrong, in my opinion.

This is no different than Adidas' "It takes five" campaign. These Kobe/Lebron commercials got a lot of attention because they creatively used the two biggest stars in basketball together.

yeah, but it's not going to make for good commercials now that Lebron is not playing anymore. it's going to seem dated in a sense.

Were people getting all in a fuss over those Jordan vs Bird commercials in the late 80s? Somehow, I don't remember people considering it disrespectful.

MJ and Bird were in the same conference plus they/their teams were feuding that time. Have Kobe and Lebron met once in the NBA playoffs?

Went wrong? Everyone is talking about those commercials. Do you know how many searches on Lebron / Kobe puppets are going on?

Those commercials were a smashing success. DO you think they will stop now that Lebron is not in the finals?

    Heck no.

Seriously WTF do people expect, Nike has the two biggest stars in the playoffs, I guess they shouldn't use them to hawk sneakers cause it would be disrespectful......people need to stop being so sensitive to "hype" and watch the games.

People are really getting their panties twisted over a commercial that has puppets in it?
