I was hearing the rockets spanish radio and hear that the rockets made a deal to get Nick Van Exel from Denver, but Denver wanted Mobley in return. So the deal was off. Not sure if it's true, so if any of you know something about this give more details. In my opinion it would be great to get Nick Van Exel so he could play point. The Rockets could give up Langhi and Collier Startin 5 VanExel Francis Mobley Thomas Cato
Where is NugzFan??? I know he'd go for a Van Exel/LaFrentz for Langhi/Collier trade in a minute. Check that - the Rockets would have to get McDyess too. It just wouldn't be fair otherwise.
"In my opinion it would be great to get Nick Van Exel so he could play point. The Rockets could give up Langhi and Collier " Langhi and Collier? We couldn't even trade them for another pair of Langhi and Collier. Collier has been injured forever. Don't get me wrong, he'll do a great job backing Cato up, he's good for points and rebounds off the bench. But he's been injured for a long time, and very few people know about what he can do, which is not so incredible in the first place. Langhi? I don't know. Maybe he'll show some spark while Rice is out. But, again, very unproven. Why would Denver make this trade anyway? They're overloaded at SG, so they wouldn't want Mobley anyway. Abdul Wahad, Voshon Lenard, and God knows who else. Steve and Cuttino are always gonna be Rockets. Either they'll both be here forever, or they'll both be somewhere else together. Maybe it's a Vescey trade? lol
I haven't heard of any discussions of any sort, but then again, I didn't hear about the LaFrentz rumor last year until it was past tense.
Every game is broadcast in Espanol and there is a very strong contingent of Rockets fans in the Hispanic community. Local Spanish radio talks more about the Rockets than English-speaking sports radio.
RealGM has the best trade so far... Stoudamire Dale Davis Bonzi Wells for NVE Lafrentz Lenard Abdul Wahad I think the ONLY problem in this trade is that Lenard would have to be cut, traded, or benched with almost no minutes. Denever would become a VERY legit team: Davis McDyess Posey Wells Stoudamire Please, for the love of god, do not post Stoudamire's numbers for me. I know what his numbers are, but you're blind if you think that he wouldn't average close to double of that on the Nuggets.
Do you want Steve at PG? The only thing stopping him from being a star is the fact that he is a PG. I want him to have the ball looking to score. Not looking to setup Cato with a missed dunk.
Iverson had actually played better at the 2 positiont han the 1 before permanently making the switch, if I recall. In any sense, he was always more of a shoot first, do everything else later player. Steve, on the other hand, has yet to prove to anyone that he can perform while playing the 2. In fact, his production seems to decrease drastically when he plays the 2. He has never been a shoot first player...so muc so that people here frequently complain that he does not shoot enough. I think Steve does not feel comfortqable at all when the ball isnt in his hands to run the offense. Thats not to say I dont think he would make a good 2 guard. You cant get around the fact that he is an excellent player.
I agree and yet, I don't agree, Jay-Z. While Steve hasn't proved he can play the 2 consistently(because he hasn't had the chance to), he has yet to prove he can play the 1 consistently. Point guards are supposed to be adept at distributing the ball and making their teammates better, which Francis simply hasn't done thus far in his career. Maybe the Rockets need to consider moving him to the 2 and bringing in a player that is more of a true PG. I'm not sure Van Exel is that player, but he's not a bad choice. This won't happen unless the Nuggets would be dumb enough to take Cato, Rice or Williams off our hands though.
sure why not. cato is a big man that we need. rice is the veteran 3 that we need. williams can provide scoring off the bench. both teams win.
I would trade Mobley for Van Exel in a heartbeat. Steve would be much more effective as a 2 I think. I would also give us a true point guard, which Steve is not.
