He is heading to Portland according to a radio station according to realgm.

It's not a done deal yet. If these things were 100%, Pike would be a Cav and Ollie would be a Rocket right now.

All the info is coming from a radio station. It's not official. It's probable, but nothing is official yet.

this makes no sense at all Portland will have damon ,nve, telfair and dikau at the point ,pretty redundant if you ask me and no center for portland . I think there is more to this trade, I personally would not mnd if we acqiured damon to be honest with you.

Dumbass move. DD was a pretty handy backup to Thunder Theo. now Portland has 2 Starting Caliber Point guards and a rookie who has a big Reputation. only thing i can think of is portland is thinking, well exels and Damon contracts both expire next year so thats bout 26 mill off the books right here.

I suspect Damon is on the blocks. if i was the Rox i'll be contacting the blazers to see what they want. his Hefty contract expires next season. also his a pretty good point guard under the right Coach. there is a muital deep hatered between him and Coach cheeks. those 2 do not like eachother one bit.

NVE is NOT on his final year. He has 2 more years.

Dale Davis WAS on his final year.

I mean he IS on his final year, but now they traded him.

ONLY way this makes sense is if they have another trade lined up.

Doesn't NVE still have the right to opt out of his contract sometime this summer? If he does, then it wouldn't make sense for this trade to go down until that deadline passed.

Interesting move. I know that Portland wasnt happy with their PG spot. They arent happy with Stoudamire. And Dickau is still pretty green not to mention Telfair. They wanted to upgrade. I think this is an upgrade. They have been looking for a scoring PG for a while now.

With them moving Davis, you have to wonder if Portland is going to move SAR for another big.

As for the Warriors. I guess this is a cap move more than anything else. But they have Davis to backup Foyle at C. And they might have Mohammed as another Big if the Dampier trade goes through. Kind of a mish-mash of bigs there.

Who in their right mind would opt out of 11 million dollars?

Yeah, I agree. I guess it depends on how much he really wanted to play for a Texas team like he had stated before. It would probably be about a $7-8 million paycut if he opted out and signed for the MLE. Oh, and I think he has until August 3rd to opt out.

    Van Exel for Dale Davis?
    07/20 - 4:27 AM

According to KGW8, a TV station in Portland, the Warriors and Blazers have agreed to swap Nick Van Exel for Dale Davis and an unnamed player to make the deal work salary wise.

If this deal does indeed go through, the biggest loser would be Erick Dampier, who was rumoured (by Peter Vescey)to be involved in a sign and trade deal that would send him (and his brand new 6 year, 71 million dollar contract) to New York for Nazr Mohammed and Othella Harrington. With Dale Davis on board, bringing in two more backup big men makes little sense for Golden State.
