Been with my girlfriend a few months and I'd like to treat her to somewheres special this Christmas. Do any of you all have an recommendations for good restaurants to go on dates? Doesn't matter what kind of food it is as long as I can take her out on a nice romantic dinner. Thank you all in advance. Places in Houston, btw.
My fave just closed...Cafe Montrose. Here are some others: DaMarco Arturo's Crappito's La Colombe D'Or
Even though Fertita owns it, I think Grotto is nice and the "place to be seen" crowd stopped going long ago so it's not busy.
I love this place http://www.nelorechurrascaria.com/ its cheaper than Fogo de Chao and the ambiance and food are top notch.
Michaelangelo's on Westheimer near Taft. Great food and they have a piano player who plays Christmas music (mostly) - I highly recommend it....I was there on Friday night with the wife and she loved it
I was just told last night that I MUST try the Pork Chop at Perry's steakhouse. They said it was fantastic. Anyone tried this?
I like Perry's for the most part. The ONLY problem is their inconsistent service. A restaurant at that price range, with the quality of food and the atmosphere they try to project should not have part time high school/college waiters. Mark's is great food, but its a little noisy. I like Cafe Annie myself, its a little quieter I think and the service is outstanding. How much are you looking to spend?
A few more in the Inner Loop/Montrose/Midtown area: Charivari - www.charivarirest.com -- European (German, Hungarian, Romanian, etc.). My gf and I go here periodically. It's in a strip mall over in Midtown, so it doesn't really jump out at you. The food is amazing though. Backstreet Cafe - http://www.backstreetcafe.net -- Restaurant in a house, so it's usually more intimate than a larger restaurant (unless there's a huge crowd, in which case it can be a bit stuffy). Good variety of foods - American Bistro. Au Petite Paris - http://www.aupetitparisrestaurant.com -- French restaurant also in a smaller house. Although I don't eat Foie Gras, just about everything else I've had there is really good.
I think Mark's is one of the top 3 restaurants in Houston (Tony's and Cafe Annie being my other ones). Excellent place. Pricey, but excellent and a great setting in the old church
My girl's favorite place used to be Anthony's, but they closed a while ago. Long shot, but anyone know of a comparable venue?
There are tons of places I could suggest, but it depends on your price range. Places like Marks, Tony's and Cafe Annie are fantastic but you will be spending at least $200 if you have wine or drinks...at minimum. If you are looking for something nice, intimate and a bit cheaper, I would probably go with something like Backstreet Cafe or Vincent's or Nino's. Like I said, tough to know what you want to spend
I'm not one for fine (ie. overpriced) dining, but we went to Cullen's for my sister's birthday and it was nice.
Hit Marks for dinner with friends on Friday night. Great as always. A small unknown restaurant thats got a great environment and a warm feel to is is Masraff's on South Post Oak lane.
