A Landry family resemblance with the Bucks

ST. FRANCIS, Wis.-The comparison between the two brothers and former Milwaukee Vincent High School stars was probably inevitable.

Two years ago, the Milwaukee Bucks had Purdue University's Carl Landry in for a workout and were impressed. Landry went on to become a second-round draft choice of the Seattle SuperSonics, was traded to Houston, and just completed his second NBA season with the Rockets.

On Friday, the Bucks worked out Carl's younger brother, Marcus, a four-year University of Wisconsin player who is making his way through the workout circuit and is trying to follow his brother's footsteps .

"We had (Carl) in coming out of college," said Dave Babcock, the Bucks' director of player personnel. "(Carl) was ahead of (Marcus) . . . better shooter, a little bigger. But Marcus is a good player. He has a future in basketball, maybe not be in the NBA or it may be in the NBA, I don't know. He can play if he keeps pursuing it."

Babcock recalled how Carl Landry dominated his workout two years ago against some good players but added that Marcus, a 6-foot-7 forward, also performed well Friday.

"He did a good job, just like (Wisconsin's Joe) Krabbenhoft did yesterday," said Babcock. "You can see why Wisconsin had such a good team. (Marcus) is a solid player. He does all the little things well and is very competitive. He did a good job. He's more a 'tweener' than Carl, so he has to develop more perimeter skills to get at a higher level."
