I'v supported Boki from Day 1 and hes my fav. player on the team, its great to see him knocking his shoots down and workin his ass of on D. JVG did somthin Rudy T. didnt and that was give Boki damn a chance & for that he will find him self with another offensive force when it comes down to the strech for the playoffs. IMO of course
I was just thinking the oppossite. The guy looks like he has exceptional lateral quickness, a very good first step, very good hops and great athletism. I see nothing in his game that looks uncoordinated.
I think HeyPee used to comment on Euro's transition to the US game and that the most trying one was getting used to the hands and contact inside. I'm sure its a difficult transition when you're not used to getting bumped in mid-air, and when you're used to slashing to the basket without being as protective with the ball. His shooting has been coming along nicely and that will keep his playing time strong until he can adjust to the NBA game in other areas.
He is starting to release the ball quicker and it's helping his confidence level, because he is not even thinking about the shot, he's just letting it fly.
He would have been better served with ice skates. The floor was slick due to condensation from the ice rink underneath. He now knows to wear cleats and suction cups like the other guys.
Nachbar is on schedule to surpass his 2002-03 rookie season total minutes played (77) in the game following the New Jersey game. Good for him. He's endured alot of scrutiny on the board. It's early, but he ranked #4 in 3PT FG%. Probably still hearing Van Gundy..."shoot or I'm taking you out of the game".
It looks to have the talent to be a decent player. Before he can log major minutes, he will need to get stronger. I'm sure JVG will take care of that.
That's an amazing stat. It probably took him all summer to pick the splinters out of his ass after sitting on the pine so much during his rookie year. As far as enduring scrutiny from the board, guilty as charged. Keep on proving me wrong, Boki.
He really has shown a great deal of improvement since that first pre-season game. I like the way the offense looks with him on the floor. He’s good at spotting when the defense is out of position and taking advantage. A couple times last night, his penetration resulted in an easy basket or open shot for a teammate. Plus, now defenses are going to have to respect his outside shot, which will spread the floor more. All he needs is a more experience so he can learn how to play with a little more control.
As GATOR said, Nachbar is one of the more athletic Euros. He's not uncoordinated. He just needs to get use to protecting the ball when he drives. And getting stronger will help him to avoid being easily bumped. The stereotype put on white Euro players is that they can only shoot and nothing else. I think Boki is not in that mode. His defense is better than originally advertised.
With Pike coming back in a few games, and Boki looking like he's rotation material, I think cat is looking more and more expendeable. Boki is really earning his muntes, and I was ositive that it was just a matter of time before he got a hang of the NBA 3-pt line. We can judge through one game, but I think another 10 or 15 games of this kind of PT, and he'll be way more comfortable and adjusted to the NBA game. Who knows. If he takes the next summer adding some muscle (no bulk) and working on the proper muscles to improve lateral quickness (fast twith muscles), then he may very well be our starting SF next year. I mean, if he improves AT ALL defensively, who can deny him the job? He's a great shooter, great slasher (better than Peja), good rebounder, good control of the ball, good passer. All that's lacking is defense. The effort is there, it may just be experience that's lacking. Either way, I think we'd be smart to package Mobley and Griffin for an impact player who'd fit into the offense. Someone like Matt Harpring, maybe Shane Battier. Reef would be nice, but we'd have to send them some nicep ieces to make it happen. Probably Cato, Griffin, Mobley for Reef and Nazr Mohammed (maybe Ratliff). Point being, Cat is very very expendeable once Pike comes back.
As much as Boki's 4 for 4 from downtown was impressive, I like the progress he is making on defense. Yesterday, he drew a charge from Jalen Rose, had one steal (didn't show up in the box score), and one blocked shot. We know the guy can board, has handles, and can get to the rack, he just needs more pt to get comfortable. If he can continue to hit from outside, it will open up the lanes for his slashing. And besides finally showing showcasing his talent, we know the guy's head and heart are in the right place. If you recall, he was the one who wrote the thank you note to the Rockets after his pre-draft tryout. I know it's only one game, but I have faith it won't be the last of improvements we see from Boki. I wouldn't be surprised that he ends up being a fan favorite ala Bull. So I hope that's the end to the Dan Langhi comparisons, and the end to the bust talk. Last year I was pretty disappointed in Rudy's and CD's platitudes about considering Boki to be this year's first round pick. But I guess they were right after all. Imagine that.
Mobley is expendable, Sane! That is blatant disrespect. I know Mobley, and Pike and co. is no Mobley. We need to understand that the team has put together a very talented and versatile group and it is not about making more trades. If he continues to transition to what JVG wants Mobley will not be going anywhere. I am one of those who believe we lost to Mem because of fatigue. A better distribution of the minutes by playing more players when they come back would be the answer. You want the hustle to be maintained for the whole game and based on the practices we definitely will need those guys to come in and contribute.
