I know that today's dominated by football, but the NHL Winter Classic a neat annual event. Today's game is between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings at Wrigley Field. It's always awesome to see the players in the snow and the elements in general in what we typically consider to be an indoor game. The game is currently in the first intermission and Chicago is leading 3-1. After playing last year's game at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, I'm a little surprised that they picked a baseball stadium for this year. Some of the sight lines look awful.
I'm sure the sight lines are awful, yeah. Last year's game was nuts. The excitement in and around Buffalo was amazing.
I thought Yankee stadium was going to host it this year? I guess they wanted to wait for New Yankee stadium? The Los Angeles Kings or Anaheim Ducks should host it at the Coliseum.
Having it in LA the same day as the Rose Bowl and the Tournament of Roses Parade probably isn't the best idea. Too much crap going on.
Or the fact that it would be 75 degrees outside. If Tiger Stadium wasn't a dump, It would be neat to see the Red Wings play there.
Why not Comerica? I think it would be cool to have the Bruins play in Fenway. The Penguins at Heinz Field would be cool too.
A bunch of ignorant crybabies whined about how disrespectful it would be to have the last event there be anything but a Yankees game. Of course, this was back when those same ignorant crybabies were dreaming about that event being a WS game...you know, before the "Most Pathetic Pile of Garbage Money Can Buy" sucked it's way out of the playoffs and into the annals of laughingstockery.
