    what are you guys thinkin?

    Round 1
    EAST
Tampa over NYI in 6 - Tampa is simply the better team.
Montreal over Boston in 7 - Without Thornton, the Bruins won't be able to finish.
NJ over Philly in 6 - NJ are defending the throne.
Toronto over Ottawa in 6 - Last week's killing of the Sens got the ball rolling.

    WEST
Detroit over Nashville in 5 - i'd love to see an upset, but i won't predict one.
St. Louis over San Jose in 6 - who is san jose's superstar anyway?
Vancouver over Calgary in 5 - Canucks are simply the better team.
Colorado over Dallas in 7 - this could go either way.

I always hate the NHL playoffs as invariably their games go into OT and cut into the baseball games that are being shown.

Yeah, I hate watching the most exciting playoffs in all of sports instead of a pitcher scratching himself for 5 minutes before throwing a pitch.

    Tampa in 5
    Boston in 7
    NJ in 6
Toronto in 7 (easily the best match-up in the playoffs)

    Detroit in 6
    San Jose in 5
    Vancouver in 6
    Avs in 6

I think the Avs losing the division title to the Nuckleheads was the best thing that could have happened to the team. If they win the division, they draw the Flames and they go down in the first round. The team would have no motivation to kick it up a notch. Now that they drew Dallas (fierce rival) and people are doubting them, they might finally wake up. I just hope that we eventually get the Nuckleheads so we get the priviledge of knocking them out of the playoffs.

Apparently they don't. If they did, they wouldn't cut into those all important April games.

The flip side is that Colorado hasn't played well the last 10 games and Kariya could miss at least one game with a bad ankle. Where Dallas has played fairly well the last month, with the exception of the 4 games of the Turco suspension (which means he at least should be rested), and they are getting several key players back healthy for a playoff run.

Look for Dallas to try and jump on Colorado in game 1 especially if Kariya is scratched. I think they will win in 5 or 6.

you obviously prefer watching players scratch themself and chew tobacco than to see a highly entertaining game of hockey with the big hits, fights, highlight reel goals, and stellar goaltending.

In defense of Major League Baseball, at least you can see the baseball more than half the time...

Yea, it is real enjoyable to see some hockey thug lay out a guy (was it Bertuzzi that did that)

Sorry, but my life is just fine without hockey and is probably enhanced by not following it.

Oh boy. That is such a weak comparison, RM95 and you know it. So, let me get this straight, you are equating a baseball player getting upset and just doing nothing more than posturing and gesturing to some poor dude who got laid up in the hospital by a cowardly sucker punch?? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight

Well, for starters, that is one less team I have to follow and spend time watching which means more time for:

    1) My family
    2) My dog
    3) Doing schoolwork
    4) Following all the other teams in the sports that I do enjoy like the Rockets, Red Sox, Broncos, Miami Hurricanes
    5) Etcetera
    6) Etcetera

No, I'm just pointing out that baseball's not full of saints. You're using a weak argument.

That's fine and all, but you were implying that you were better than to lower yourself to watch a horrible sport like hockey, not that not following hockey allows more time for those things listed. With this post, you're also implying that following the Rockets, Red Sox, Broncos and Miami Hurricanes are more important than your family, dog or schoolwork.

Um, no, I ranked them in the matter of importance and as you can see following sports is #4 (actually should be #5 because I forgot about my faith:( which comes after my family).

And no one is disputing that baseball has some despiscable people, but 38 was trying to tell me that one reason why I should like hockey is because of the fights. That is why I brought that up. You have to be demented and warped to want to see someone get hurt that seriously.

You guys do me a favor. Take this discussion to the "Poll" thread. If i had thread edit powers here I'd move those posts over there. This should be about the playoffs not about who can pee further.

you are implying by me saying that "fights" are entertaining that hockey fans like to see people get injured on sucker punches. fights are part of the game - sucker punches aren't - which is why bert got suspended for season/playoffs/maybe more.

do you think boxing is demented? of course not. wrestling? of course not. neither are hockey fights.

you are blindly stating that fights=sucker punches.

    you are wrong.

Tampa over NYI in 6 - It's close but Tampa came a long way this year.
    Montreal - Boston - Pickem'
NJ over Philly in 5 - Devils might even sweep
Toronto over Ottawa in 5 - Watch out. The Leafs may be back.

    WEST
Detroit over Nashville in 5 - Wings might drop one in Nashville but I doubt it
St. Louis over San Jose in 7 - Neither has much O but if Osgood is on forget it.
Vancouver over Calgary in 6 - This is a "for the game" pick. Canucks should withdraw on priciple.
Colorado over Dallas in 7 - I will stay up late for these games.
