All the talk has been about McNabb's return to Philadelphia.....as an opponent and facing the guy he lobbied to get last year Michael Vick. The byes kick in this week too so that should be an important factor in fantasy circles. What other big stories are going on this week?
For me a big story is the Steelers/Ravens will not be on TV in Houston and we are stuck with Skins/Eagles and Panthers/Saints besides the Texans game. Channelsurfing better bail me out.
sorry, any chance to see Vick play. I remember when vick was a rookie and it was the early days of NFL package on DirectTV. My friends would go over one friend's house every Sun, and we'd flip through the channels and we'd always stop on the ATL game if they were on offense. later on that year, Bill Simmons in one of his random thoughts columns says, I find myself watching Atlanta every time they're on offense while flipping through games on the NFL package. now matter how you feel, the guy is just flat out electric. that being said, I think I just jinxed him.

as a Skins fan Im excited about the game. One thing about the NFL that is depressing is there is so few games, a loss hurts so bad, especially one you could've/should've won. You can look at the Skins' first 3 games in two different views: Cowboys game Possitive: Played great defense, weren't able to score alot but we did move the ball well. We won the game off of a holding call, but from my perspective of the replay, Orakpo had great penetration that the cowboys RT had to hold him or he would've gotten to Romo. When you look at how good the Bears are this year, it's not hard to see that the Cowboys could lose to them in week 2. Cowboys proved how good they can be with a win over highest ranked offense in the league against the Texans. Good W against a solid Cowboy team who had the talent all along, just got blindsided by underestimating the Redskins. Cowboys game Negative: Against a team who had offensive line problems galore, we didn't get much pressure on Romo. If it wasn't for Romo's lack of truck of his Oline, he would've tried for more deeper passes then just throwing it on the flat hoping his WRs could create some yardage. Even after getting downfield a few times, we were unable to score an offensive TD. If it wasn't for the officials to have the balls enough to throw a flag on the game winning TD of the game, we would've lost. Lucky win. Texans game Positive: Played great the entire game. Threw the ball down field with ease, were able to withhold Foster to down-to-earth stats, and got nice pressure on Schaub. The Texans won the game by a chain of plays. Without any of these plays, the Redskins would've gotten the win: -Texans FG block on the Redskins -On 4th and long, Texans take a shot at the endzone for a Andre Johnson TD -In overtime, calling a time out before Redskins kicker kicked the ball threw the uprights Any of these plays work out in the Redskins favor, and the Texans are sitting at 1-2 right now. Texans game Negative: After showing a solid defensive effort against the Cowboys in week 1, we came out and let Schaub throw through our swiss cheese defensive backfield. Special teams killed us, we let a Texan defender get all the way to our kicker to block a field goal, without anyone laying a hand on him. We let Andre Johnson get free on the biggest possession of the game... in that situation we have to put our best DB on him, along with a saftey. A better defensive gameplan and this might've been a different story. Rams game positive: Looking back to last year, only 3 wins seperated the Redskins and Rams. In talent level, there isn't much more on the Redskins side then the Rams. Even though our rushing game has been MIA for the last 2 seasons, we were able to get out of a 14-0 hole in the first quater by great plays on the defensive side of the ball. Mike Shannahan's comments on Sam Bradford when asked "if you had the first pick in the draft, would you have drafted Bradford?" was "No question. A talent like that is hard to find and you only see in the great QBs of the game." Alot of people cringed when he said it due to the stud we have at LT that we picked with the 4th pick, Trent Williams. With Trent, only giving up 1 sack to Ware in week 1 (due to a mistake in footwork, not because he was outplayed) and held his own against Mario Williams (did Mario get a sack when Trent was guarding him? I think all Marios sacks came from when he switched to the left side). This shows how special this Bradford kid is, with his talent anything is possible. I think the Rams will be an exciting team this year and will steal a few wins from better teams. Rams game Negative: Defense, defense, defense. The 3-4 defense is the BEST defense you can play only if you have the PERSONNEL for it. You need solid DEs, along with true LBs and a decent secondary. We have a ****** at nosetackle that likes football but doesn't love it, its just a 9-5 job to him who whines and complains about everything. You're lucky if he plays. To us moving a solid DE we had last year to play a OLB position in which he has no idea what he is doing. With this defense, it's totally made our best LB last season totally ineffective (London Fletcher). With a defense so disorganized right now, it puts way too much pressure on a weak offense to keep up with the other team on the scoreboard. Our running game doesn't exist. We're not playing a guy called up from our practice squad more then our starting RB. We're so weak in our WR's that we tried out on Monday a WR reject from the Ram's team. How desperate are we? That desperate. Bottom line is withour current defensive personnel, it's too risky to blitz so much. I don't care if you get a sack on 1st and 2nd down of every defensive possession. It's not as important as having coverage out there to keep the offense from gaining first down after first down, as you can see with the Texans game, it made the difference between a win and a loss. (and not because of AJ's catch in the endzone, but mainly because of all those 15-20 passes to Kevin Walter which set up the AJ touchdown.) /rant
What happened to Clinton Portis during the second half of that game? Shananhan is going to ruin that team.
Has Andre Carter been playing OLB in the 3-4 or is he still DE? Either way Skins have talent in Carter and Carriker that seems to be ill used right now.
Honest to God I think he is in the dog house. The official word was he was losing the ability to grip the ball safely with his hand, but I think it's because it was pretty obvious on one of his more imressive drives he slid like a QB instead of taking the hit... he also did it twice in the last game we had.
OLB. He looks so lost out there. Doesn't have the speed to catch the RBs on the flat, he needs to play with his hand on the ground before the snap. Carriker is solid but he just needs to get more snaps. Having a fat ass that draws alot of attention in that NT spot would surely create more opportunities for Carriker. Anyone hear what Haynesworth did during the game when our offense had the ball? he went over to the Rams side of the field and was chatting with their players DURING the game lol
