I'm still in shock the Cowboys won that game. They were awful except for a few key plays that went their way. I seriously wanted to grab tight end Escobar by the throat and strangle him. He was the culprit in 3 horrible penalties that absolutely killed the Cowboys. He brought absolutely nothing to this game and should have been pulled after the 2nd penalty. I'm sure everyone is thinking it's just a matter of time before the Cowboys implode in the playoffs...and they have every right to think that. But, it also says something that the Cowboys won this game when they played so poorly. It's still the other team's mistakes killing them worse. Cowboys had 4 fumbles with 2 lost...but the damage was minimized. Vikings lost this game on a punt return fumble by their return specialist...and even that recovered ball call was questionable. It is unfortunate the end of the game was marred by an obvious missed face mask penalty no-call. But, this game is going to get ridiculous if they start reviewing every play and missed call to then add a call. There has to be limits to that...like last 2 minutes of quarter or something. The one Vikings player was pissed about holding not being called against the Cowboys. Everyone knows every game has holding calls on both sides that are not called. There is no way to fix that unless you review every play or have a booth ref watching the video making calls. Then, the number of penalty calls is going to get downright ridiculous and slow the game down making it no fun any more. Everything can't be up for review. We just have to live with an imperfect system that relies on refs and human error. Bottom line...can't blame refs when you lose. Everyone is in the same boat regardless of whether it works for or against you. Players know that. But, it still screams of unfairness in situations like the end of game last night. But, a lot of the reasons the Cowboys are winning is just Dak is not throwing INTs and is playing smart football. This defense, though, and this bend-don't-break bs. This defense is not very good. The question is are they good enough for a run deep into the playoffs and/or can the offense overcome the defensive deficiencies. The defense is pretty good in the red zone and against the run. And, they can tackle pretty well. But, pass defense/rush is pretty horrible.
Even some of you Cowboys fans have to admit it would be been pretty cool if the Cowboys lost and the Giants beat the Steelers to set up a showdown next week for the #1 seed in the NFC. That would have been awesome! Oh well.
I hope Htown is prepared for the invasion of Dallas fans for the Super Bowl. I'll be rooting for the other guy in the NFC Championship game, whoever it is.
