NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports a deal between the Texans and free agent Chris Brown is expected to be completed by Thursday.

It sounds like Houston may be offering Brown a multi-year deal, but we won't know for sure until the contract is finalized. The Texans seem set to use a running back by committee approach in 2008.

It's a bad move if you sign him at starter's money to be the starter. As I said in the other thread, he's very good in a part-time role, 8-12 carries per game. Assuming that's what his role is here, it's a very solid signing.

Good low risk signing. He is supposedly a perfect fit in Gibbs system. Signing won't be for much. Hopefully they sign Andre Dyson, Corey Smith and Chris Myers. That would really enable the Texans too take the best player available in the draft each round. Kubiak loves Chris Taylor and you also have Darius Walker and Ahmen Green. I still would likely take Rashard Mendenhall if Chris Williams is off the board.

Agreed. It's gonna be interesting to see our RB rotation come next season, Walker looked pretty good late last season, we'll see if Green can stay healthy, supposedly Kubiak really likes Taylor, we pick up Brown, and will more than likely pick up a back at some point in the draft.

I wonder if this is evidence that the team has little faith in Green staying healthy this year. I'm guessing they won't be bringing Dayne back now, unless they decide to not draft ANY RBs...which would be odd considering our need at that position and the depth at that position in this year's draft.

I'm guessing this means guys like Walker and Chris Taylor are going to find it quite difficult to make this team in '08.

They need to draft a running back regardless.

Not sure if this is good...he's injury prone, runs upright and hasn't been durable...

that said, anything can happen in this league, to bad most the bad happens here...We still need to draft a RB

now i'm starting to questioning their moves now. I understand they know what they're doing, but i hope i'm wrong. Reeves and Brown will be big question marks, but at least Brown can fit the zone-scheme.

He'll be great in platoon duty.

    He's a chain mover.

Looks like he's just a band-aid for Ahman Green. As long as we don't overpay him, I think it's a good deal.

But it looks like they are really HIGH on Chris Taylor to take over in this Denver running offense.

I think it was already reported that Dayne won't be re-signed. I know we re-signed Walker but he could always be cut during training camp. Supposedly Kubiak really likes Taylor and I think he'll get a shot next season.

Man, I loved Walker at Notre Dame and he looked great at the end of last season. I hope he has a good camp and doesn't get cut.
