Subject: Official NFL Statement Regarding the Half Time Incident with Janet Jackson We deeply regret the appalling incident that occurred during the halftime celebration at the Super Bowl on Sunday. For over 40 years our league has tantalized viewers with only partial views of women's breasts. We have been committed to simply showing cleavage and the outline of our cheerleader's breasts. We have only shown photos of breasts in our sponsors' commercials and, not to forget, the silhouettes of the breasts of women sports reporters. We have done this merely as an attempt to titillate, to fill airtime and to appeal to the prurient instincts of our masculine audience. It has always been our intention that our viewers would discuss women's breasts and imagine women's breasts, speculate on their authenticity, ponder nipple color and size, daydream of seizing those spongy masses and twisting them this way and then that way, of burying one's face in them like a spaniel at the dinner bowl. But we never meant to show you the whole thing. We sincerely regret that our half-century long tease has overshot its mark on Sunday. We urge our viewers to forgive us, and to continue to content themselves with veils and innuendo in our future seasons. And to the hundreds of millions of viewers throughout the world, who already hate us and think we have no morals in America, please realize this was nothing more than an isolated incident. It was certainly a total surprise and a shock to us all. Sincerely, Paul Tagliabue NFL Commissioner
where the hell is the outrage for the streaker. to me that was more offensive than the JJ boobs. and all these people who are supposedly offended by JJ's act, get a freaking life. yeah, there were kids watching the SB, but i bet the parents of those same kids allow them to watch rated R movies. and even if they don't, all i have to say is, it's just a boob.
not sure hate is right word TJ interesting certainly here is Australia, people were my surprised by the reaction and outcry by the american public and media to it than the breast itself.... the comments were like why worry about this considering the violence and nudity in movies and their love with guns... surely that is more impt
It has a lot more to do than just exposing a breast. Obviously we have nudity in movies and strip clubs and those are legal. The problem was that it was during a family hour, with many young'uns watching. On top of that it was a very cynical move to hype up Janet Jackson's new CD. We have a right to control what gets shown on the airwaives at what time. Janet Jackson and MTV should have respected the boundaries Americans have set. I am sure there are things Australians would find quite outrageous, despite their embrace of open sexuality.
Janet Jackson should issue an apology to all of us that caught a glimpse of her saggy titflesh. Looked like a half-full burlap sack.
Yeah but CBS was able to cut away from the streaker and he basically went unseen. I agree with you though, people are taking this way out of hand...WAY OUT!!!
Janet Jackson does not owe me an apology. I was not offended. Spike Lee, the 100,000+ of the 182 millions viewers who were offended, conservative America, and anyone else b****ing about the Half-Time Show can go suck on Justin Timberlake's surprisingly womanly breasts. Where is the outcry for Nelly's act? Hey, Spike, if it's not okay for Janet to expose one of her breasts; why is it okay for Nelly to grab his schlong for two minutes of family-viewing television time? I've seen more nudity (and what-not) on the awards show, the NFL sidelines, and the steamrooms than that two second blurb. The NFL, CBS, Pro Bowl, and Grammys need to get their **** together instead of cowering to a bunch of whiny, thou-shalt-not Bush twangs. University (Boob Tube) Blue
UB, funny you mention Spike. He was at CU this week and spoke. I got to see it. He mentioned the Super Bowl thing, and his outrage seemed to be over the fact that the NFL is hypocritical, not that Janet was exposed. I don't know what he said before that, but judging by his speech on Wednesday night, nudity wasn't the problem.
I know, I was watching the half-time show and I didn't see anything. Then I wake up in the morning, turn on the radio and all I hear is people upset about Janet's exposure. Next time I'm going to time my blinks. I hate missing stuff, especially when I'm watching it.
